I visited this place in month of may 2007. JIM CORBETT PARK ( DHIKALA FOREST REST HOUSE) : One word AMAZING!
As I traveled most of the Wildlife Sanctuaries in India, this is one of the Best. As u stay 20 km inside the forest it means u r right in the middle with them, We city people don’t find these 20km on highway much but mind u it’s jungle way for these same 20km u have to drive for approx 2 hrs as roads are Jungle Roads. Dhikala Forest rest house ideally located on the hill below a river flows across the FRH. This FRH is well kept as lot’s of foreigners visit this place & for 2 hrs distance u won’t get any thing. Carry regular FRH stuff for the park visit & keep utmost silence in the park.
As park visits timings are 6-9am & 3.30 – 6.00 pm, u can hire a jeep & guide is a must. Go for these park rides daily twice u will be blessed with very good wildlife & birding.
There are 450 species of birds situated in the vicinity of the park. Charges for the ride when we visited (May 2007 : Jeep 700 full + 200 Guide per ride) (Elephant ride : Don’t miss it, it’s thrilling Rs. 600 for 4 ) U can see attach photographs of the same.

Rooms : Accommodation at DHIKALA FRH is fantastic, it is operated by KMVN only some part of it. But it is really good, amazingly clean & Toilets are also cleaned.

Food : Food was really good as it serves buffet for all meals.

Booking : Can be done at any KMVN office ( We have a very bad experience at MUMBAI KMVN office as they book a car for our 15 day tour the driver was a nightmare so keep u r vehicle booking option open for others, as these people don’t have a control over it) but other bookings u can count on them, they are supportive.

BOOKING CAN BE DONE FOR DHIKALA FRH AT ANY KMVN OFFICE

BUT MIND U TRAVELLING IN THIS SEASON MIGHT NOT HELPFULL AS SIGHTING WILL BE MORE DIFFICULT IN GREENERY. BUT IF U INSIST U WILL NOT RETURN EMPTY HANDED. STAY ATLEAST 2-3 DAY’S.

There is a corbett fall, which is worth watching. There are 3-4 different areas in Corbett, all are different and beautiful. If time and budget permits, visit Bijrani, Garjia, Seetavani and so many there. There is a Corbett Museum near Corbett Falls. You can also see river kosi.
As someone already suggested, do spend a night at Dhikala forest rest house, you can hear amazing cries of the animals at night.

Well, there is lot to see other than Tigers since Corbett has a diverse variety of fauna. You can spot jungle cat, leopard cat, barking deers, sambar, chitals, elephants, etc. In the ramganga river you can spot crocodiles.

Apart from that, you can also visit Corbett falls and the famous Garjia Devi Temple. You can also visit Nainital which is not so far from corbett.

hi,
going corbett- one of t best forest reserves, its great! seeing tigers there is a matter of luck! not many come across them. v happen to see fresh claw marks of it! but u r sure to come across herds of wild elephants, deers, wild boars, different species of birds, crocodiles, and many.if u hv not booked a hotel, i suggest river wild resort at mohaan. can also include nainital in t trip! just 1-2 hrs from corbett n if u go there don't miss its zoo! amazingly clean and varied animals n birds.
at corbett, can also plan a night safari which is carried outside corbett park on t main road uptill ranikhet n u can come across roaming wild animals on t way! local hotel personals arrange it for .
happy holidaying

Hi!
I believe that the corbett is the one of the best tiger reserve in the country. We stay at hideaway. wow! One of the most beautiful resort i have ever visited. The landscaping is amazing. The rooms are fantastic. The food are great.
The most important thing is the night at hideaway. We had one guitar and music night at hideaway. We cannot forget that night. In the middle of the jungle, with the light music of guitar and songs we had one gala evening there. The bar at the hideaway is more expensive and hence advisable to take your stock well before reaching there. The ride at hotel is costly and hence one should have to visit the park at bijrani or dhikala through the local taxies.

We paid Rs. 400/- for the gypsy open ride and Rs. 600/- for the elephant ride. The visit for worth doing. The jungle is very beautiful. One must visit the Dhikala to spot the tiger. As rightly said by one of the member, staying at the FRH at Dhikala is the best experience.

After visiting the Corbett, we went to Corbett falls and corbett musieum. The corbett falls is the best place to unwind. After visiting the same, we went to Nainital. From Corbett to Nainital the way is just 3 hours and hence one must combine the both the things.

We have visited the corbett in the month December 2006. We could not book the FRH at Dhikala at GMVN office as they say that we have to book directly with the forest department at Ramnagar for booking. One must book in advance otherwise sopt booking is almost full and hence must send D.D. at the time of planning well in advance.
