Gangtok in Feb 1st week

How will Gangtok be during Feb 1st week next ye (2011), i mean climate vise.
Also, We are planning to visit Yumthang and nathulla pass.
We really want to see snow. Will it be there by then..?

Hi,
The climate will definately be cold and warm wear is recommended. In Yumthang mostly it will be very cold as it was in march 2008 and it was snowing, In March & April in Gangtok there was a hail (snow). It may be snowing also. I am once again travelling in month of Feb 1st week as it one of my favourite places. I was also there in December 2007 with my family, it was chilly, but no snow in Gangtok but definately on yumthang. Baba Mandir will definately be chilly. You will not see Rhodenderons in Feb in Yumthang. From there you can also visit Gurudmongar lake.If you want to see flowers in Yumthang valley then April/May is recommended.

Hi Venkat

Gangtok, Yumthang and Nathula Pass will definitely be very chill in Feb. But the place will be fantastic and filled with snow especially Yumthang & Nathula Pass. If you are lucky, you may experience snow fall too.

I was told that the best time to visit Yumthang is in April when the whole area is filled with lots of flowers. Remember to make your room bookings for Yumthang in advance.

Please check if Nathula Pass will be open to public during that period as the roads might be blocked due to snow fall.
