Golden Triangle tour!

Hello everybody,
My fiance and I are planning a trip to Golden triangle ove Christmas. We thought the Golden Triangle is good to start on.
We have 10 to 11 days. I have looked on Google, forums here and such and have become confused. I would like to add that, we dont want to go on a high luxury Tour but we want it to be good. The basic idea is not ultra cheap at the same time not very expensive. We want a tour with a very knowledgeable guide.
How do plan please help, as there s hardly any time left. :p
Please Help!

Hello Vicky
Good to hear that you are planning for a trip to the North, the tour which you have thought would be the best one. As far as the Golden Triangle tour is concerned I would suggest you guys to first land on to Delhi. Comfortable Local sightseeing would take 2 days . Either you can hire a conduct tour or a taxi from your hotel, Normally a taxi would charge 900 - 1000 for a duration of 8Hr for 80 km. You can stay in Lajpat Nagar area which also harbour the local shopping area ( The Central Market), there are plenty of Hotels in and around central market like. Hotel Amar Inn ( range between 2800/night), Hotel Clerks Inn ( around 3000 - 3500/night) or Hotel Bamyam Hotel around 4500 - 6000 per night.
From Delhi I would suggest to go to Jaipur as your next destination, You have plenty of Buses available from RSTDC, The Buses starts from (Bikaner House) near India Gate, or you could also get Trains from New Delhi or Old Delhi Station . Shatabdi Express is one train which leaves Delhi early morning and reached Jaipur by early afternoon. There are plenty of good Hotels in Jaipur ( Sorry I do not recollect any names at this moment). The local Sightseening in Jaipur would need again 2 comfortable days. Shopping area is the Old Jaipur Market - The Jhohri Bazaar, Bari Choupat area near Hawa Mahal. If you have time you guys can go to Jodhpur or Udaipur for another 2-3 days, there are plenty of Buses available from RSTDC, come back to Jaipur again and take your journey to Agra. The distance is about 3-4 hours by Bus. A day stay is more than enough in Agra. Come back to Delhi and return to your Home town.
The tour would take 6-7 days ( Delhi/Jaipur & Agra) would not be hectec but a comfortable one.
Hope this information would help you in some way.
Regards
Romit

Dear Vicky,
I did this golden triangle tour with family in july and it was amazing.
I started from bangalore.......... we were at delhi airport at 9 in the morning went directly to shimla.. we reached at 6 in the evening. spent two days in shimla (which is enough to cover shimla and kufri - try to use toy train from kalka to shimla or on way back). went to chandigarh (spent a day - had been to sukhna lake and rock garden), then to agra (1 1/2 days - taj mahal, agra fort and fatehpur sikri), then to jaipur (2 days), back to delhi (a day).
we spent about 7 days and enjoyed it a lot, for your info... we hired a car for 7 days.... Its good you opted for golden triangle tour (go for a car so that you dont get tired).

Firstly, I guess 10 days would be too much for Golden Triangle trip. Delhi (2N) Agra (2N) Jaipur (2N) would be sufficient. Of course, you can add 1 more night at Jaipur easily. I would suggest you stay at Bharatpur sanctuary, which is enroute Jaipur to Agra.
You can start the journey from Delhi. As mentiones earlier, 2N would be sufficient for local sight seeings.
You can take either a car or train to Agra. Coveniently, a car would be ideal. With a distance of about 200 km, it is a 3-3.5 hours journey. I would advice you to visit Fatehpur Sikri enroute, which lies about 50 km before Agra. Otherwise you have to make thesame journey all through again. You can start from Delhi after breakfast. Comfortably reach Fatehpur Sikri within 3 hours, take the conducted guide tour of Fatehpur Sikri for about 1.5 hours and reach Agra by afternoon.Be sure the take a government approved guide who will make you see both Fatehpur Sikri and Salim Chisti tomb.
The second day a Agra can be didicated for Agra Fort, Eitmad0ud-Daulah, Sikandra and of course, the Taj Mahal.
Agra to Jaipur is about 232 km by road - a journey of about 4 hours. You can make a night halt at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. This is of course, possible only if you are travelling by a car. Do not let the car off at Bharatpur. It would be difficult to get a car from Bharatpur to Jaipur.
2N or even 3N at Jaipur can be comfortably spent.
For Agra, blindly go for the UPTDC Hotel Taj Khema. One of the best locations, it is hardly 500 meteres fro the Eastern Gate of Taj. It even has it own Taj viewing point. (P) 05622330140
Hotel Pearl Palace in Jaipur can be a very good bet. Amazing hospitality at veyr reasonable rates. Location and infrastructure is good commensurate to the tariff. (P) 01412373700
In Delhi, if you want to close to the market area there are many hotels in Karol Bagh with a price range between INR.2000-2500. You can try Hotel Indraprastha. (P) 01128757727 / 01128757728.
Happy journey ![]()
