Hillstations at Maharashtra

Hi,

I am planning to visit a hillstation in Maharashtra during the month of May.I am traveling with my wife and 3 kids.Please suggest a good hillstation where all of us can enjoy.We are staying there for 6 days.

Dear Tarun,

You may Plan to visit Lonavala for three days and three days at mahabaleshwar . At both the places Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation ( MTDC) has stay arrangements which is quite reasonable and you can book them through internet <http://www.maharashtratourism.gov.in/MTDC/index/index.aspx>

hi tarun,

First of all let me from which part of india r u travelling to maharastra.
Their are many hill station in Maharastra
1) Mahableshwar & Panchgani best & Famous place for 5 days
2) Lonavala a small hill station for 2 days visit only
3) Panhala a small hill station near kolhapur for 2 days visit
4) Igatpuri near Nasik best for rest only 2 days not much to roam
5) Amboli near Ratnagiri Kokan belt good and best place can be club with Ganpatipule a good sea beach area
6) Materan Hill Station where no vehical r allowed can b club with Lonavala
7) Bhandara hill station Near Akola
8) Saputara Hill Station Near Nasik but it come in Gujarat State

This much only i know know u decide which place u want to visit but No-1 is the best though it will b expensive in summer u better book now only as per your budget.

Frankly speeking , summer is not a good time to visit any of the hill station at Maharashtra. It'll be better if u plan between sep to dec.
U'll find too much crowd and heat at all popular hill stations..

Still if u want to visit , try some of the spots at kokan ( at list u can enjoy alphanso's , jamuns and "Karavanda".
Try Dapoli reagion , stay at Aaryawarta , Dapoli ( check out contact nos at net). Keeping base at Dapoli , visit Anjarla ( Ganesh Mandir),Harne, Murud (beach) at evening or dolphine show at morning, Aasud, Ladghar(beach) and Dabhol.

Or Sindhudurga reagion :
Base station at Tarkarli ( MTDC only). visit Tarkarli beach,sindhudurga fort, Nivat beach, Dhamapur lake . go to sawantwadi ( base) , visit Vengurla, Kanakeshwar mandir and Amboli

Hi,
6 days all at one place? In such a case select a very good type of hotel/resort.

M'shwar will be very crowded,particularly on weekends. Choose week days for the lake & around.
Enjoy hotel too. Don't expect the place to be really cool,it will indeed be hot in May.

Matheran will be good ,particularly kids will love it-if they are willing to walk long distances.
But it has become VERY costly.6 days will be too..oo much.

2N3D at Panhala is good option. I like valley view-hotel.
Amboli: I wonder what can one do 12 hours after being there.
Why are you insisting on hill station? Choose some beach .But anywhere- on the hill or by the sea -it will be hot.30+ DEGREES !!
