Hi There,

Can you pls guide me, as m planning for my honeymoon in kashmir in may & june,will it be the wise decision to visit at that time and i wanted to know which all place to visit and how can i proceed, My prefered way of commuting from mumbai will be by air, m planing for 8-10 days so that i can enjoy at fullest. will appreciate if you can help me with good 4* or 5* hotels and way of commuting for internal travelling within the destination.

Dear J,
Kashmir is actually the paradise described in the literature. Since you plan your journey by air than I feel that you shoud not have any problem. There are 3-4 main tourist spots worth visiting and I would advise you to visit only the proper tourist centres since you will be on a honeymoon.
gulmarg : Real nice spot around 2 hrs drive from srinagar. If u can get a booking from JKTDC online than that is the best place to stay otherwise there are quite3 a no of private hotels also.
Khilanmarg: als a very picturesque place,opt for JKTDC guest house only.
Pahalgam: around 4 hrs drive from srinagar with one of the best natural sceneries I have seen. Dont stay at JKTDC guest house there are a no. of good hotels in the main market.
Srinagar: Try to stay at House boat for a unique experience, otherwise take a hotel anthe road running parallel to the Dal lake in the main market. The vie of dal lake with the house boats is awesome.
Once you are in srinagar U can hire a private taxi for all the above excursions and you can spend two nights at each place comfortably.

Hi Johny,

Welcome to Kashmir, the paradise on earth.
I would suggest :
1. Travel from Delhi to Jammu by air
2. Take the road from Jammu to Srinagar (about 10 hrs but worth it) The beauty all around will hold you spell bound. On your return you could take the plane from Srinagar to Delhi.
3. Stay for two nights at one of the better house boats on the Dal Lake. Nothing like a house-boat start to your honeymoon. OR, you could opt for Nehrus Guest House OR even the PIne Grove OR Lalit Grand Palace.
4. Travel to Pahalgaum - this one is eternal beauty - stay at Pinewood Hotel. This is where you stay for at least 2 days. Visit Baisaran on horseback - a green valley surrounded by pine forest on all sides.
5. Get back straight to Gulmarg and spend a day there at JKTDC resort.
6. Back to Srinagar for a night and then to Delhi. While at Srinagar do not forget a visit to Nagina Lake which is better than the Dal.
