House boats or resorts?

Will be travelling to Alleppey next month. Is it a good time? And when we go there what do you think will be better staying in a resort or a house boat? What is the prices of both of these? And are there class house boats too? Or all the same?

Houseboat stay has unique experience. I had been to alleppey and had houseboat stay on june 27th in the backwater. really fantastic experience.
Houseboat are not ordinary(for making a 3bhk houseboat it costs around 40-50 lac,as said by the houseboat driver) as for me due to offseason i got a 3bedroom big houseboat(though door of 2 rooms were closed) in Rs.6000/- along with all meals, flower bed, candle light and cake.
ofcourse there is heavy price difference in hotel stay and houseboat cruise and stay.
hotels can be in Rs 2000 range but u can't see any thing in hotel.
If u r in alleppey Houseboat is must. Otherwise no point of being at alleppey.

Nitin,
Most resorts have a tie up with house boat owners. Consider staying at a resort, see the house boats and then choose, this way you are likely to get a better deal. Try and avoid agents, they take 30 to 50%.
Have a great trip.

Resort stay cost is lesser as against house boat stay. House boat stay can cost upwards of six thousand rupees per day. Whereas stay at a resort room can start from 2000/- Rs onwards. We stayed at Pagoda resort which had clean good rooms with a good restaurant downstairs serving good food. The backwaters were close by, where we had a nice evening boat ride for an hour for which he charged us Rs 350/-.
