Posted by Vinay | Mon Dec 05, 2011 4:10 pm
Hi,
I want to take my kids to Bandipur. Is it a enjoyable place for the kids. And also what other places can we see in Bandipur apart from the national park? And how much is the fee over there ? do we get over night accommodation there? How much will it cost?
Many thanx ![]()

How old is your kid Vinay, Whenever I take my 3 yr old son, he has a great time. Especially after all the jungle stories about mowgli etc
. The only thing is he gets excited and end up shouting when he sees an elephant and some of the serious photographers in the jeep will express dissent.
But overall it is a great experience for kids. We just need to keep it intereting for them by telling some stories around the animals that they see. I stay only at Jungle lodges. I don't think any other resort comes close to it in terms of professionalising or the knowledge of the naturalists. The foos is good and the staff is very very friendly. Their safaris are the besst
You can visit gopalswamy betta other than safaris and also visit the mysore zoo / palace on the way/back

Well, it all depends to the extent one loves nature. Children usually loves the environment and animals. As it is, a couple of days is enough, so you will not get any chance to get bored.
The park does not allow private vehicles inside the national park. Only the park reserved vehicles are permitted to go inside with a guard who is also the driver. The surrounding high end resorts have a tie up with forest department and allow for gypsy rides. Every safari is only for strict 45 minutes. The bus can accommodate 20 people in it and is jam packed on any weekend.
Apart from the forest the Gopalswamy Betta, which is the highest peak (about 4900 feet amsl) alongwith a 13th. century fort is also worth seeing.
For accomodation, you can try Greenwood Nature Camp (M) 09620401689/9442662583/9710841751. They offer comprehensive package for safari, camp fire, trecking.
