Hi, If I stay, say at Taj Kumarakom and I would like to have food from hotels / restaurants outside Taj complex, is it possible ? Are there good eating out options / hotels available in walking distance ?
Hi, What I remember, there are not many options. There are road side eateries, and one or two places where you can eat, but not too many options. You can always walk into the KSTDC resort, or other resorts and eat there, but it would mean the same as eating in the Taj.
Kumarakom is a very secluded place. You only have resorts and as rightly posted by other reader, it amounts to eating at Taj. It is advisable to eat at the resort where you have your rooms and take the package accordingly. KTDC resort is good for eating and serves good food or you can travel to Kottayam.
hey, its better you have your food in the resort you stay coz that's what we did, at whispering palms and the food was simply fantastic!! we didn't feel the urge to go out n eat! hav a nice holiday!
Hi, Saw your query regarding eating out options outside the Taj. As I remember, we did eat at one of the other resorts (don't remember the name)which was at a walking distance from Taj(turn right from the gate). Nothing fancy but just a simple eatery with affordable prices and I did notice some other resorts as well. Tasneem Mumbai.
taj in itself is not value for money. it is best to stay in some good resort and have food there only.house boat experience is not to missed . i would highly recommend laxmi resorts bedi
Me and my family and friends frequently visit Kumarakom. I found that in the entire Kumarakom area, there is one medium sized nice hotel & restaurant namely `Ashadom' which is situated just walking distance from Taj, Kumarakom. With A.C. and non A.C. room facility, they provide tasty Indian, chinese besides authentic south indian homely food at reasonable rates. All of us regularly visit them even if we stay at a nearby star hotel. They also provide houseboats, motorboats and in the same premises they have few aesthetically designed cottages at economy rates (I never stayed, but few of my friends stayed there last year). Try once. Best wishes.
