hi, take a late night bus from ksrtc or private bus stand from bangalore that is going to ooty or take an eaarly morning bus from bangalore, b'use the check in time for majority of resorts in that area is 12 o' clock noon. Better to book a resort in advance so that just get down in masinagudi town hire a jeep or auto to your resort. Place is very good, try out Mr. Hughes " Bear mountains resort". happy time enjoy n have fun roshan
ideally... take the last bus from b'lore to gundalpet, you will reach gundelpet at some unholy hr. wt for the first bus to masinagudi/mudumalai. In the alternative, take the earliest bus out from b'lore to gundulpet/battery/kalpetta/calicut etc....any bus that goes via gundulpet. dunno about direct buses from b'lore
Hello george, You have direct buses from bangalore to ooty.
From bangalore to ooty the route is bangalore--Mysore-- Mudumalai--cuddlore--ooty.
you can alight in Mudumalai itself. No hotels in Mudumalai. For accommodation you need to book the rooms in forest office. Alternate place for food & accomadation is cuddalore or masinangudi.
For masinankudi, i am not sure about the Public transport. May be some mini buses or taxis available from mudhumalai
If I may add to that. Getting to Masinagudi from Mysore is also kewl. Think abt that too. Bangalore to Mysore should be abt 3 Hrs and Mysore to Masinagudi is abt 3.5 Hrs. The good part of this is the route that u take from midway Mys to Masi is completely in the dense forest, its nice to drive thru, so try a day trip and get to watch a few wild cousins, I got to see plenty of elephants, white langurs, giant squirrels, peacocks etc.
If you want to get there from Ooty, be sure to take a jeep with a driver who is used to driving down to Masinagudi from Ooty, cos the route is very steep and only experienced drivers can do the job. I think its abt one hours drive downwards and they normally charge abt 1500 - 2000 Rs. for a return trip.
Dear George, You can catch buses from Bangalore KSRTC busstand to OOty. You reach Mudumalai via Mysore, Bandipur in about 6 Hrs. In Mudumalai you have to hire local tpt to Masinagudi. Alternately you can hire a cab at Bangalore or Mysore and use it for local movement at Masinagudi also. Better travel previous day after lunch, reach by evening, stay overnight, have the early morning walk or drive throgh the forests. K S Balachandra
