Dear Anitha - I visited Munnar at the end of August and I found it to be very beutiful and moreover, you will get to see the waterfalls at its best. The weather will also be very cool and the local people say if you have to enjoy the weather and waterfall, visit Munnar at the end of Monsoon as by Sept. end all waterfalls will become dry. So visit as scheduled.
Have a happy journey.

hi
anita we had been to munnar in May, since it is a hill station the weather is cool throught. rainy season is definite no beacuse of travellin is on the slopes of hill and even leaches and other things of nature might be adverse. August end will be good again. so enjoy your holiday and dont forget to buy spices and tea-- green tea and elichi etc . Munnar is generally beautiful and you will never regret going there. so have great fun.

During August you may get moderate to heavy rains in Munnar.
So September will be better !! Even better will be later half of September !!!
And I tell you, water fall WILL NOT BE DRY even you visit in October !!!

hi anita...
its a good time to visit. u can get rains anytime in munnar. we went 2 times in april, both time it rained heavily. where r u from?. if u r nearby,u can plan on short notice...for some days rains stops completely even during june-july...so in that gap you can see some places also.
plus very little crowd means u have lot more privacy n boat rides in dam backwater will be cheap.
like instead of usual 10 min speedboat ride u will be offered 30 mins for lesser price..same with hotel n other things.
if u can come back to munnar again then experience this monsoon experience...if its once in lifetime tour then plan well...maybe oct-nov so that u can see all places plus combine alleppey/cochin backwaters with ur tour.

Munnar weather will be at its best nearing the end of monsoon as the waterfalls are full of force. But you have to keep a day or two as reserve because it may rain heavily on that unfortunate day you might be disappointed and you cannot visit other places of visit like avrikulam sanctuary etc., and the town is not much hygienic.
