Dear Amith,

Mysore is a historical city and offers..... monumental history along with natural beauty. Here are a few places I visited and enjoyed :-

1. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary 15 kms before Mysore, situated at one of the most beautiful embankments of Kabini river.
Tip : If you are a photographer then hiring a boat just for yourself or partner makes sense though the cost is much higher Rs. 1100/- for 3 hours. Or else, just go with the tourist group boat that comes for much lesser price.
To stay :Green Hotel, Mysore…originally the Chittaranjan Palace built for the Mysore princesses has been restored into a Hotel. It is true to its past character and to all those who are visiting Mysore..this place is worth the money..except that it is not air conditioned, no TV, generators etc. just to make it eco friendly. Breakfast is good and the place is clean and well kept.
2.St. Philomena’s Church visit is a must .The neo gothic architecture the floor in the shape of the Holy Cross and the pride it takes in its history is worth every moment one spends there. It is pious and serene and quiet.
3.Mylari Restaurant, Nazarbad main road, serving mouth melting dosas and that too in the morning. A must find/ try for all those visiting Mysore.
4.Mysore Palace…. A palace so beautiful and romantic…. They did everything so envious…. This era a no no match.
5. Brindavan Gardens

It depends how many days you intend to stay at Mysore

The distance between Mysore and Ooty should be about 160 kms. Check Google maps
