Only snow

Is there anything else in Gangtok except snow? If we visit in summer what can we see over there? Is it a place only for snow or is it more?

No this is totally a wrong concept about gangtok, there are places much higher in altitude where you get snow in winter but not in gangtok.
There are number of tours one can take from gangtok , one is Gangtok & Peiling(with a days site tour of Gangtok & another at Changu lake & bab mandir ) , another programme is Gantok, lachung & lacheng( with a days site tour at Yumthang Valley, Zero point/Kangra valley or Gurudamber Lake ). A total stay of 5/6 days will require for each tour with Gangtok as base.
In summer the weather is generally clear with sunny days. Aslo the cold is very enjoyable not as pinching as in winter.
Hope that i could give a near vivid picture of Gangtok.
Regards
Rajkumar

Hi,
Being a regular tourist & visitor I can say that you can get hail in Gangtok but not snow. Gangtok has many other places to offer as tourist place. you can go to Baba mandir, changu (tsomgo) lake, nathula Pass( India -china border), Yumthang & then to Zero point and Katao, Gurudmongar lake etc. Snow will be visible in these places in winter till march mid week. last year in Feb there was hardly any snow at Yumthang(valley of flowers). This year snow was there.
Other places to visit putting Gengtok as centre are Pelling (5 1/2 hrs), Borong on way to pelling via Rabongla(alight here), Kalimpong and Darjeeling (3 1/2 hrs). you can also visit namchi, chardham and Alpine cheese factory. Gangtok has more places to offer than others.
Summer is the best season to offer and yumthang will invite you to various orchids, but be careful of the expenses as it is a peak season and book your hotels in advance.
Regards,
Arun
