Raichak sightseeing

Posted by Ranjana | Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:41 pm

Hi,

We have booked a vacation through RCI at Fort Holiday Club in Raichak. I would like to know what can we do for 7 days at raichak. What are the sightseeing attractions around the place. Is it very far from Kolkatta? Can we do day trip to Kolkatta? Also I would like to know how is Fort Holiday Club? Is a good property and how are the facilities there?

Thanks,
Ranjana

Well first of all best of luck spending 7 days in raichak. There is nothing much to see at raichak. Kolkata would be around 2-2.5 hours drive depending on the traffic. You can travel to Kolkata for sight seeing and come back the same day. See Kolkata for 2 days. Raichak for 1 day. Laze around for 1 day. Nothing much to do. I would suggest you cut down you holiday to 4 days at Raichak and spend the 3 days at Mandarmuni. Mandarmuni is around 4 hours drive from Kolkata and is near Digha. You can book at Sana Beach resort or Rose Valley resort. Given that you have booked Fort, I will suggest you book Sana

Now Fort was once upon a time a Radisson group hotel. Now its no more a part of Radisson. It is a good resort and now a days its mostly used for corporate parties. So if there is a corporate party then you might end up staying awake till late in the night. Else its a nice resort for lazing around and looking at the river. Just near to Fort there is a resort Ganga Kutir. That is owned by the same group and is a part of the small luxuary hotels of the world chain. As a result it is obviously much better than Fort and is twice costly. But you can walk down there and check the facilities. I had been to fort in Dec 2010 and found the facilities to be decent and working. Enjoy

Hi,
7 days of Raichak doesn't seem too exciting to me. The resort that you have booked is nice. I went there last mont and had a gala time with all my friends however it was a one night stay. If you want to laze around and just relax for 7 days then probabaly it's upto you however I would agree with Ritwick with what he has posted below. However even travelling to Kolkata everyday would be quite hectic so Mandarmani/Digha is a good option for couple of days. Sea becahes would add some variety to your plan.
Still if you wish to relax in Raichak you have a nice resort with pool, indoor games and Ganges nearby. One must do activity is to visit the Ganges during sunset or sunrise You'll get some lovely clicks. (mind you the crowd outside the resort is really rough. It's two different worlds outside and inside the resort)
Anyways whatever your final plan is - just dont think too much. Holidays are always fun. Relax and enjoy. :)

not quite the fun for 7 days. apart from a big swimming pool , an average spa, ganges nearby, mediocre games room, a lonely lounge, and lots of trainees staff, nothing much to do. food choices are limited which takes ages to appear. better to keep the resort for night stay and make trips to mandarmani, kolkata. a little far away from the airport too. for assistance in getting cab on rent for trips, can contact [Moderator-This email id is hidden.
