Sirdi & Mantralaya trip

Posted by HT Readers | Tue Jul 01, 2008 10:07 am

I am based in Chennai, I would like to visit Sirdi & on my return to Mantralaya around 13/08/09 to 17/08/08.
I request you to suggest the best way to reach these places ( By train where to get down , which is the convenient train , if required I can fly single trip only due to my budget ) & what precautions I need to take.
Regards
P.Saktevel

Hi!
The best way for you will be to reach Shirdi (as there is no direct train)is :

13/08/08 = Chennai
- Bangaluru : 2007 Shatabdi Exp. or 2639 Brindavan Exp.
13/08/08 = Bangaluru - Kopargaon : 2627 Karnataka Exp. (17.20 hr. to 13.39 hrs.next day)
14/08/08 = Kopargaon - Shirdi : 15 km. by Autorikshaw or bus, overnight stay at Shirdi & Sai Baba Darshan
15/08/08 = Sai Baba Darshan, early morning Aarti
15/08/08 = Shirdi - Kopargaon : 15 km. by Autorikshaw or bus
15/08/08 = Kopargaon - Raichur 2628 Karnataka Exp. (16.45 hr. to 4.13 hr.next day)
16/08/08 = Raichur - Mantralayam Road : 6381 Kanyakumari Exp. ( 05.44hr. to 06.18hr.)

I think this will be the best possible plan for you. If possible try to prepone the plan by one day 15th August being a holiday Shirdi will be crowded.

Best luck

Sanjay

Hi,
The first reply is quite comprehensive and I can not argue with that. I am myself travelling by Karnataka Express both ways on August 2nd and 5th. The only problem is that reservations in this train for these dates are not available. Waiting list is also not available for the return journey. So not a feasible alternative.

Since you are from Chennai , the best option is to book a journey upto pune. I have just now checked the availibilty in all the three . From Pune there is a early morning fast passenger train for Shirdi ( Kopargaon ). Or you can get down at Daund and take a bus/ passenger train from there. Bus from Pune is also an option. If the group is 4-5 people and your budget permits, hire a taxi for Pune- Shirdi trip. For return to Mantralaya, book any train from Pune/ Daund.

I hope this is helpful.

Pramod.

Shridi is near from Kopragaon which is in Chennai Delhi train route.

It is about 90 Km from Manmad and about 120 Km from nasik.

By bus it is 2 hrs fjourney rom Manmad to Shridi

By taxi the charges will be approx Rs.500 / 600 to shiridi from nashik and about Rs.400 from Manmad.

Please look for convenient train from irctc.co.in covering these stations and go by train.

If the train stops at Kopragaon it is the bes from where you can reach Shridi within 20 minutes by auto / taxi or bus.

On holidays and Thursdays the queue for darshan will be long. On normal days it may take about 3 hours for darshan.Accommodation is available in different classes including Devastanam's accommodation
