Small place?

I heard Mahabalipuram is a small place. But will i get any hotels over there? or should i travel all the way back to Chennai?

There are quite a few resorts enroute to Mahabalipuram , you can get them at 2000 Rs and higher.
As far as I know , there is sterling resort in Mahabalipuram.
Choice of stay in Mahabs or in city depends on what you wish to do.
I would go to a resort to get way from the city life and enjoy the beach side.

Mahabalipuram is a small town, however, incase you want to stay overnight there are a lot of options available. There are hotels and resorts of all categories-ie budget, mid-range and luxury. You can even plan a trip to Pondicherry from Mahabalipuram the next day -that way you'll be able to cover both the places.

If I am asked for opinion, I will most certainly recommend Hotel Mamalla Heritage because of the excellent service as well as location, because of which the price-rate is a superb steal-deal!! Have personally stayed there and recommend it with full marks!
