Hi ,

You have rightly planned about your stay .

I feel , you should hire a 9 Str.( Front row bench type seat ) Toyoya Qualis with luggage carrier for round the trip including Sight Seeing . We have hired last January , 2 nos. Toyota Innova for 7 days @ Rs.3,000/- per vehicle per day including everything ( Fuel , toll & other taxes , parking , driver's lodging & fooding , all the main sight seeing places etc.) .

We stayed at C J International ( Adjacent to Golden Temple ) at Amritsar and Hotel Natraj at mcleodganj . Hotels are good . You can stay at Hotel Bhagsu , Mcleodganj - HPTDC .

Amritsar - Golden Temple - Jallian Wala Bagh - Durgiana Temple (Lakshmi Narain Temple)

Around Dalhousie

Subhash Baoli (2,085 m)
Not far from the G.P.O. Square is the spring at Subhash Baoli with panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains. (1.6 km)
Satdhara (2,036 m)
Sparkling springs close to town, rich in mica and other minerals, are noted for their medicinal properties.
Panjpulla
Beyond Sathara is another pretty spot where the water from a natural tank flows under five little bridges. (2 km)
Bakrota Hills (2,085 m)
The Bakrota Mall, a popular walking circuit around these hills has a spectacular view of the mountains.
Kalatope (2,440 m)
An ideal weekend retreat with forest rest houses and beautiful spots for picnics, in a little wildlife sanctuary. (8.5 km)
Bara Pather
Enroute to Kalatope is the temple of Bhulwani Matha, in the village of Ahla. (4 km)
Dhainkund (2,745 m)
The high peak of Dhainkund offers a bird's-eye view of the verdant valleys of the Beas, Chenab and Ravi rivers. (10 km)
Khajjiar (1,851 m)
An emerald, saucer shaped meadow at Khajjiar, surrounded by dense deodar forests, has a lake at its centre with a floating island, a forest rest house, a little temple with a golden spire and a golf course. (22 km)

I would suggest to book yr. vehicle in advance for the whole trip. The charges will be around 3500 inclusive of everything. u can bargain. As far as hotels in Mcleodganj are concerned Hotel Bhagsu HPTDC is a good one. Recently we had stayed in Dharamshala in Exotica resort. The rate was Rs.3600/- for double sharing cottage inclusive of b/f & dinner. Its a cool place. If your budget permits, you can try this one. but book in advance as the place is out of town and only 9 or 10 cottages are available

you are descending from a cooler place to less cool place to hottest place (Mcleod to dalhousie to Amritsar)
do see Tibetan Montessori in Mcleodsganj
go for trekking of 3 km in kalatope to enjoy nature
Sachpass will be difficult with kids. you need to leave early around 6 for same
dont miss river point to hang your feet in cold water of river ravi to let your fatigue go
do make sure you have confirmed tickets for return. high peak season, waiting does not progress much
NJOY

hello, this is sachin shah from sangli, Maharashtra.
Dear pragnesh, firstly, i would like to congratulate you, for finding time to move out and relax.
as regardss the tour, i suggest you hire a tata winger for the whole tour starting from asr and ending at asr.this will make your tour more relaxed and without any hassles of booking cars again and again. bcoz u have children and family with you. so please go ahead and book a suitable (winger ) with a carrier(compulsory, and this needs to be told to the taxi operator in advance).i suggest winger becoz i have traveeled in it for about 2000 kms in gujrat.and th main thing is that u all can easily travell tgether.

i suugest that u first see asr then go to dharamshala and mcleodgunj(stay at mcleodgunj-
hotel chinar delux is quite comfortable and mr. thakur, is a kind gentlemen). as u have ur own vehicle , u shuod opt to stay at mcleodgunj which is at ahigher altitude than dharamshala, but only 9 kms away from there.
so finally i st stay at asr, second and third at mcleodgunj for mccleodgunj and dharamshala, fourth morning leave for dalhousie. this a 3-4 hours ghat journey, so start early after brkfast, reach there by lunch relax in afternoon and stroll in the market.5 day early ,plan first for dentkud-kalatop-khhajjiyar trip .these are the cream places to be compulsorily visited and can be done in a single day or can be broken by a stay at khaajjiyar-an awesome place.

dalhousie-khajjiyar should consume more of ur stays as they are the finest ,cool places in the whole tour of yours.
i had stayed at hotel mongas in dalhousie by booking from cleartrip. the stay was comfortable, food was very good, the room service excelletn.

finally , to say, dalhousie is a place to relax and get the feel of climate and the nature in its bounties.

we tend to forget all our anxieties and be one with the nature and enjoy it.
so pls enjoy ,relax and have a wonderful trip ahead.

thanx for asking me to share my views.

Regards,
Sachin shah.

At Dharamsala and Mcleodganj you may search good hotels, we stayed at HPCL cricket stadium as its the best to stay at.
Have happy journey, do write back after returning. Enjoy the stay at Grand View, its nice hotel with quality food and yaa good staff, the owner Ms. Radhika is nice person.
