Driving directions to Dharmastala from Bangalore

Dear Friends,
I am planning to drive to Dharamastala tomorrow evening (from bangalore). Can someone please let me know the driving directions and the road condition. 4 of us travelling (2 families).
Google search showed 2 results (one is sakleshpur deviation and the other through charmadi ghats after hassan).
I am just wondering how safe it is to drive in the night in those places and what would be the road condition.

Hi Raghavendra,

The easiest and shortest route is you hit Nelamangala>>>
Kunigal>>>Hassan>>>Sakhleshpur>>>Nelyady>>>Dharmasthala.

The road till Hassan and a little after is in goood condition.After that I would say it is nit in the best of conditions. Especially around sakleshpur. And I strongly suggest against driving in the ghat section at night because trucks ply very frequently at night here and they are very very reckless.If you enough time, I suggest you leave late night or early morning. It all depends on how fast you are going to . Avoid the ghat section when it's dark. The problems you'd face would be the roads and the trucks. Apart from driving in the ghat section at night, I don't see any other problem with this trip at all. If you do it, let me know how it went. Have an awesome drive.

Hi Savio,
Thanks for your reply. We are planning to start early in the evening somewhere around 4PM and plan to reach by 11PM. I hope it won't be too much of a problem. What i heard in some forum is that Trucks aren't allowed through Charmadi Ghats but I ain't sure.
We have these two routes in mind.
Bangalore - Nelamangala (43kms) - Kunigal (112) - Hassan(35) - Belur(30) - Mudigere (15) - Kothigehara(40) via Charmadi ghat - Ujre (8) - Dharmasthala
and second one
Bangalore > Nelamangala > Kunigal > Hassan > Sakleshpur >Gundya >Dharmastala.

Which one do you recommend?

Hi Raghav,

I would recommend the first option. It is slightly longer (about 20kms) but safer and the roads are slightly better. I wouldn't say its in the best condition, but it is slightly better than the Sakleshpur route.
