Eight Days In Rajasthan

Posted by KAILASH | Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:52 pm

Finally with lots of research :) I have finally charted out my plan in Rajasthan as below :

I have decided to exclude mount abu and udaipur and wil consider the same in my next trip

I'm bit confused regarding my stay at Jaisalmer and jaipur. (Although I dont want to spend much on my accomodation. Only the thing is it should be clean and authentic)

Also pls let me know which camp to select in sam dunes in jaisalmer

Day 1 (30.12.2011) Arrive Jodhpur 6.30 a.m by suryanagari express...we want night halt at Jodhpur

Day 2 (31.12.2011) Leave early for Jaisalmer....stay at sam dunes in night in desrt..

Day 3 (01.01.2011) Come to Jaisalmer city..night halt at Jaisalmer City

Day 4 (02.01.2011) Leave early for Pushakar (enroute cover Ramdev Baba, NagaurMataji) night halt at Pushkar.

Day 5 (03.01.2011) Leave for Jaipur...Night halt at Jaipur

Day 6 (04.01.2011) Night halt at Jaipur

Day 7 (05.01.2011) Leave Early for Ranthambore..Take afternoon safari..night halt at Ranthambore

Day 8 (06.01.2011) Take Morning Safari and then leave for Jaipur to board train for mumbai evening..

Hi Kailash,
Your plan looks fine, just my 2 cents
I feel Khuri sand dunes are better than Sam as those are less crowded and much cleaner, you might want to give a thought again on this

Yup Poonam....wil definitely give a thought into it
just wondering how the place would be coz I hav my two daughters (4 yrs and 7 yrs ) along with me. Thats why was preferring a crowded place. I mean I dont know regarding the authenticity of the place Khuri

Kailash I will like to suggest few things
Like no need to leave early for desert instead in morning you can do fort & havelis & after lunch you can leave for sam sand dunes or Khuri. real fun in desert is late afternoon, sunset & sunrise. morning 10 to 3 it will be to hot so usual packages are also afternoon to morning.
As far as hotel is concerned we had good experience in Hotel Jaisal Palace also Owner & staff were very co-operative. Rooms are little small but they are very clean & location is also centralised & good value for mone. They also have their resort in Khuri Desert. But we had been to Sam which was arranged by Hotel Jaisal palace. it was good.
Jaipur I will suggest Hotel Arya Niwas. & Ranthambhore Siddhivinayak Resort.

Kailash, I agree with Poonam. We went to both Sam and Khuri but were happy that we decided to spend the night at the latter. It's much more pristine and much less crowded. I, somehow, also felt that they were a lot less pushy at Khuri. At Sam, the moment you get out of the vehicle, they start doing their hard-sell. At Khuri, we stayed at Moonlight . Nice place and the sand dunes there were quite picturesque.

And I also agree with Chirag...it's pointless visiting any of the sand dunes anytime before late afternoon.

Hope you have a great time in Jaisalmer (and rest of Rajasthan)!
