Places to visit in nainital

Hi all,

I am reaching kathgodam on 22nd june morning, and my train to delhi on 23rd night around 10PM. so I have enough time there in kathgodam, and have decided to go to nainital. could some one suggest me the places, and what would be the covinient way to travel in nainital. can i book a local taxi there. And am traveling alone. so is that advised safe or can you suggest me the bus routes. Help me in planning a 1 1/2 day at nainital. OR
I have another thought to go spend time in mussoorie, but as i read its little time consuming to travel to kathgodam and back to kathgodam... am confused please help me in planing for 2 days.

First day u can take a cab & go for sattal tour. Stay at any hotel nearby to nainital lake. Next day morning by walking u can go to lake for boating, naina devi mandir, ropeway & can do marketing of beautiful candles. Afternoon take a bus to return halduwani. I do not have much idea about car drivers because during our tour we hired a car from new delhi for 7 days. Hope you shall not face any problem.

hi rekha, i would definitely choose nainital over mussoorie. hire a cab from kathgodam and head to nainital. avoid the cave park and the horse ride that takes you to dorothy's seat and other places and don't miss the zoo there. someday during the week it is closed so the first day itself you check it out so that you dont miss it. there are a bunch of places that you can visit there which the cab driver himself will help you with. after nainital, you can do the other lakes like bhimtal, sattal, naukuchiyatal.

I agree with Moumita & Vaderaj.. Nainital is very nice & refreshing place.. dont rush to cover all the places in nainital.. just go there & sit beside the lake & feel it with flavor of local mass, aroma of tourists...Please dont miss "Arti" of Nainadevi temple in evening.. it happens at arond 6 pm every day..& dont go to "cave" by any chance..it’s just wastage of time & money..other lakes like bhimtal, sattal, naukuchiyatal are also nice.. Zoo is good enough but it will be time consuming..If you like to walk alone, u can go for a walk through "Thandi Sadak".. I liked it..Hope you will enjoy..

Go to Nainital visit naini lake, snow view point, the mall, etc. Night stay at Nainital and next day take cab to visit Sattal, Bhowli and return back to Kathgodam to take retrun train

Nainital is a place to stroll and take a boat ride.

For local sight seeing, tour operators would insist on 5-point, 7-point sight seeings. Most of them like waterfall, suicide point are just bogus. Even the HImalayan Darshan point ( I have never come across anyone who had a dashan of the Himalayas from there though) is not at all convincing. Nevertheless, you can have a grand view of the lake from Lake view point. The zoological garden ia a must. Apart from Darjeeling, it is perhaps the only zoo in India having Siberian Tigers. Its a good bet.

And for nearby sight seeings, Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Sukhtal etc are worth for a day trip.
