Most of the hotels in Mantralayam are unclean and below par, though they sometimes charge heft room tariff. Many State Guest Houses are better. It is even better to stay in the accommodation provided by the Mutt itself. One such good place is "Vijayendra thirtha" complex which is situated on the right hand side of the main road in Mantralayam, as you enter from the State High way. It is new, clean and reasonably priced, if not cheap. Certainly, for a double AC room, they charge less than the private hotel (Udupi Pavamana Residency), which is opposite to this building!
