Dalhousie, Chamba, Kajjiar, Dharmsala in 2 1/2 days

Posted by harinath | Sun Jul 08, 2012 10:22 pm

Hi,

I am a resident of andra pradesh. Not knowing hindi is a great mistake i did in my life. I am simply stranded for help.

I have 2 and half days time in vacation. 15th, 16th and 17th half day.

I am planning to start my trip on July 15th from Amritsar.

Locations i have planned to cover are

1. Dalhousie
2. Chamba
3. Kajjiar
4. Dharamasala/mc leodganj

The time is short and locations are more. Ready for a tiring trip.

I need help in short listing the locations to visit in each of the destination.

My initial idea is start by 7.00 Am from amritsar and reach Dharamasala by 11:00 AM max. Do sight seeing in dharamasala for 3-5 hours. Again start to dalhousie/Chamba/Kajjiar and check in to hotel and take rest

Next 1 and half days split up as 1 day in Kajjiar
and half day in Chamba.

BUT NOT SURE OF WHICH ALL PLACES TO VISIT, HOW MUCH TIME TRAVELLING WILL INCUR.

REQUEST ANY ONE TO HELP ME OUT WITH A ITENARY SO I CAN GO AHEAD AND MAKE HOTEL BOOKINGS ACCORDINGLY.

I am planning for

1. Geetanjali/Manimahesh if its Dalhousie,
2. Iravati, Chamba
3. Devdar, Kajjiar

Please suggest me with an itenary so i can book any of the above hotels.

Few cab drivers are charging 6.5K+. Not sure if this correct amount.

Re-iterating my questions as its a long post

1. Need an itenary on where to spend time(My importance is nature and religious hindu places if they are very famous)

2. List of very important places to visit in dalhouse, dharmasala, kajjiar, chamba

3. Is taking 2 days accomodation in dalhousie good or split up as one day in chamba/kajjiar and one day in dalhousie

4. Please suggest me good plans as when i try to enquire with most of travel agents/drivers they speak hindi and i can understand very little...

Requesting your help...

In my view You can escape Chamba but there is one famous Hindu temple is there. Other than that temple nothing much worth while to visit in chamba.
As you have less time better escape Chamba and focus on Dalhousie and Khajjiar , in my view you can stay one night at Dalhousie , this is very beautiful place, scenic beauty, trekking and famous churches and temples. One night you stay at Khajjiar and see the beauty at fullest , it's also called mini Switzweland of India.

Enjoy ur trip if anything write us here

Spend more time at dharmsala -Mcleodganj. Overnight stay is advisable as 6 hours is too short for this place. Bhagsunath temple and waterfall nearby are the most attractive followed by other places nearby. Spend a day atleast
Chamba can be sacrificed for dalhousie and khajjiar . Both can be covered in a day. Do go to temple of Kali AMA beyond dainikund.
Kalatope trek is a must for nature lovers
Visit less places devote more time. That is my advice
Happy holidaying

Go by train to Pathankot and hire a cab to reach Dalhousie. Visit Khajiar, Chamba and local spots of dalhousie. A tiring One day will be enough. Proceed to Dharamshala next morning. Visit local spots of Mcleodgunj & Dharamshala and Dal lake, Naddi, Bhagsunath, Narbulinka etc next morning. Two & half days and you have covered all the worth seeing places !!!

Hi Dipankar,

Thanks for your suggestions !

So you would advice me to stay one night in dalhousie and one night in khajjiar . One full day trip in dharamshala.

I will skip chamba then.

According to your suggestion the trip goes like this...
1. Start early from amritsar(15th July), See all places in Dharamshala(Dal Lake, Naddi, Bhagsunath, Palampur, rock temple, triund, buddha temple), In evening start to Dalhousie. Checkin to hotel in Dalhousie and take rest.

2. Do sightseeing in Dalhousie on 16th July (Places: Sathara, Panj pula, Subash baoli, Dhaikund peak, Bakrota hills, Bara pather)and evening proceed to Kajjiar and do an overnight stay over Kajjiar.

3. July 17th: Spend half a day in Kajjiar sightseeing, and other activities in kajjiar and proceed to Amritsar.

I am taking cab from amritsar because i thought i can save some time as Cab is faster. People say if you start by 7:00 AM, you can reach Dharamshala by 10:30AM.

Is this plan perfect???
