I am planing for two night & 3 days visit to Gopalpur on sea.
I booked Hotel- Song of the Sea. Please suggest will this hotel a good one and on the beach. I booked a AC room with balcony sea facing (as per Hotel).
Also suggest what are the sightseeing spot at Gopalpur?
I hear abour a Sulphur Spring is there with 75 KMs from Gopalpur. How was it?

hi Sujata,

The main problem in gopalpur is all the hotels facing the beach are moderate ones or very ill mantained. location of song of the sea is excellent. The hotel is an ols one with no maintanance. The owner Mr. Bedi is a fraud. he tells everybody that all his rooms are sea facing.we booked a ac room and we were given a room back side from where only one or trees may be seen. after lots of quarrel ling we were allotted a sea facing room but we had to wait for 3/4 hrs for the occupants to check out. Beware of this Mr. Bedi. Handle him strictly. Ask him to send a mail confirming that the room is on the 1st floor and sea facing. Sight seeing is mostly nearby. take a auto. The lighthouse near the hotel is a must watch.Watching the sea from the verandah from the hotel is excellent.The sulphur spring is at taptapani. Its not really worth visiting from Gopalpur as the place is not clean and you cannot bathe there. There is a mandir also. As a second option you may stay at Orissa Govt Panthanibas at Taptapani. The area is a slightly hilly area with vast greenery. There is also a small dear park nearby.

I prefer HOTEL SEA PEARL -- which is on the Beach & very close to SEA -- The position of Room no 203 & 204 facing Sea on the first floor are the best. It seems that you are on the Sea during Full Moon in the rainy season. Light House & Dhabaleswar are not very far. Taptapani is not worth seeing -- very Dirty -- though the road & the forests are good. Taratarini is littlebit far -- You may like the forest there. Best place & worth seeing was PORT -- but now it has become a restricted area. Visitors are not allowed to get inside.
You may visit Chilka Lake at BARKUL for Dolphin show. you will have to spend a whole day for that. Any way, All the Best --
