Hi vineet,
Congratz for your Honeymoon. Darjeeling is not that much expensive area.
If ur planning to stay in budget hotel then I'll suggest u to stay in 'Scociety Hotel' near darjeeling mosque and mall, this hotel is much neat and clean and good place to stay, it cost about 600 ruppe on 2008 per room.
There is travel packages which u can take to visit beautiful places like Rock garden, gangamaya park, tiger hill etc.

i agree regarding hotel society. its located near to mall and chowrastha. there are many points of interest. tiger hill, batasia loop, zoo and mountaineering institute to name a few. there is a pure veg restrauant just down the lane of society hotel named kanika which offers fabulous food.
happy holidays

Hey Vineet

If you have a taste for the old Raj style living and more importnatly if you have money to splurge (per night around 8 to 10k) then I strongly recommend at least 2 days of stay at Hotel Windamere.

Don't Stay at Elgin. Mayfair could be a great choice.

Also, if you have a taste for adventure then consider the 4-5 day Sandakphu trek. Its amazingly beautiful but will require you to be fit - no prior experience needed, no camping as there are good quality lodges on the way. For guides, you can use trek mate (located on Mall road in Darjeeling).

Cheers!

Hi Vineet,
Darjeeling has a number of hotels, to suit all budgets. You may want to avoid the crowded areas and the excessive vehicular traffic and therefore I would strongly recommend is to try out the following hotels based on your budget.
Hotel Sinclaris (moderately priced) -- http://www.sinclairshotels.com/
or Hotel Windemere and Mayfair which are quite expensive,
Your hotel should be able to organize some sightseeing for you (either ½ day or full day based on your convenience).

All the best and have a great time !!

For a honeymoon you must definitely spend one or two nights at the Windamere Hotel, budget permitting! - no hotel in Darjeeling can compare with the ambience and atmosphere of the Windamere and very helpful and attentive staff.
