jungle safari in night Q&A

Hi Friends,

My group is very crazy about treks.camps and wild life.can we stay 2 nights in jungle & watch the night wild life.any machana and tree houses available or any guide available in jungle safari in night.

there are no such hotels
However One we stayed was Tiger Ranch...but not like machana huts...
There is no night safari...As it might not be safer...

This is what I know 2 yrs before...
current status must not be much different than that

As Bandipur is on the periphery of the highway, no night safari's are prevalent there, but you drive along the entire highway (but you need to tackle the check post people... )

the more you stay... the more you feel like staying at Bandipur, it has got a unique spell that charms you if you genuinely interested in wildlife and nature!

resorts are the only options in Bandipur. I would not advise families nor people with small cars Tiger Ranch.

u will find resorts offering night drives / safari's in the masinagudi range.. (however confirm before booking any)

Hi,

There are timings for safari - Morning: 6.30 AM to 9AM and Evening: 3.30 PM to 6PM. There is no night safari or staying in the forrest. You do have Jungle resorts that are very near to the forest but resorts are a bit expensive there. If you have a strict budget, you can book a lodge in Mysore and travel to Bandipur, the distance is not very much.

One advantage with resorts is that they take you for safari, show wild life videos, and few other activities. If you are not staying in resorts then I guess you will have to arrange for the safari yourself and as far as I know, they don't allow private vehicles inside the jungle.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Tusker Trails. That was 2 years back and planning to go again sometime this month. It helps if you know someone in Mysore, do confirm on the safari timings and cost per head.

nothing as exotic as machan stay or night safari.

the closest is log huts. they are available at cicada as well as tusker trails.

the timing for the safari is in the morning and evening. ends around 6.30.

although on the face of it , sounds regular but packed with sightings , binoculars and the folklore from the learned safari guide , it becomes a worthwhile experience.

definetly recommended.

Forest Department does not allow any such night safaris. You can contact them for special permission, but doubtful.
