Car hire/call taxi in Thanjavur Q&A

Are there any reliable car hire or tourist taxi services that I can book in advance in Thanjavur city. Also not sure if they have call taxi service like in Chennai? How much do they charge per day or /km? Do they pick up from train station?

The best option would be for you to hire the taxi from the hotel where you would be staying, they are very reliable. they would pick u up from the station and take you around. Tata indica A/C should be available at apprx 1500 per day (200KM, 12 hrs). I don't think there is call taxi service, even if its there, it would be expensive if you plan temple trips around Thanjavur area. Go with the hotel's suggestion. If there is some requirement in Kumbakonam area, pl let me know, I can give details of a reliable taxi service which I've been using during my trips.

Rates will be approx Rs1500 per day for AC Amby or Indica as Shantha says, or you can negotiate better rates with the taxis at the railway station. You can also ask your hotel but make sure that they do not charge you more than this amount.

I wont be staying in town per se, I was planning to hire a taxi from station and take a trip to Velankanni, stay for day and get them to drop me back at Trichy the next day. So I will take you suggestion and try to hire a car using the yellow pages.
