Hello Jigna, Mahableshwar is situated around 130KMs from Pune down south west. If you are driving it takes you around 2.5-3 hours. drive is very pleasant except for some steep climb portions. Regular buses, toursit taxi's ply throughout the year both from Pune and Bombay. This is the best time to visit as you can se lot of berry's and can also carry some freshly made jams. if you wish to spend a night you can stay at MTDC Deluxe cottages for which booking can be done at mumbai. If you have someone at Pune then it will be nice to come down to Pune and drive down early morning and you can return the same evening that's what I do normally. Regards, nanda
MTDCs' resort has limited cement cottages which are good but stay here means you are away from the ''mall'' and still able to smell hills.this is close to governors' house and you can just walk across to sit where he would to look down across the valley facing west.see sunset. The polo ground and the road to tapola lake is near this place and you can take long walks .food is around it and you may take a quite dinner here and a active lunch outside.do not miss the classy cream -fresh- and strawberry cuts slices packed into a tall glass sold near the octroi naka ,the crush and serbet and milk shake are nothing if you atste this calorie pack .buy all fruit jellys and visit pratapgarh too.mtdcs, grounds were thick and green 15 years back but now have lost some sheen like all.go after rains or during it to really enjoy the nature of M.horses come and go from the road on the right of mtdc so you can hop on them till bazzaar and even come back in the evening,,but you have come here to walk and slow down ..so do so..
I have been to mahableshwar many times and knowing the location of the MTDC resort, I would not advice you to look out for staying there. It is far away from the main center-the market and the taxi stand, and therefor you do not get to enjoy the hill station as you feel cut off. It would be better to select resorts/hotels near the market-but NOT IN the market. I for one, always prefer to stay in Rajesh hotel which has perfect location,on a higher ground level with good gardens and unlimited pure veg Gujarati food. Depending on your budget, please look for similar hotel/resort locations to enjoy life even after sunset and get real feel of being at a hill station. Mahableshwar and Panchgini are very well connected by bus and taxi service from Mumbai and Pune.It is one of the best hill stations in Maharashtra with number of very unique hills, points and Shivaji's fort. Also one can enjoy boat and water scooter ride at "mini Kashmir"-just 20 kms from Mahableshwar.
MTDC resort is located in a calm and peaceful environment within forests near sunset point. Rooms are not very good but good enough for budget travellers, specifically if you are looking for a peaceful time. If you want to live near market then there are better options available.
You will need a credit card to make payment and need to take printout of the receipt. The fare includes price without taxes, taxes have to be paid extra at the resort during checkin.
You can get a list of sales agent in Mumbai from the website. I enjoyed my stay there, hope you do too!
