I am planning my Honeymoon to Manali in Feb 2008. Please suggest me if its a good time to go and also a few places in Manali which i can visit. I would also like to know if it would be too cold at that time....
Yeah Febraury in Manali is cold, and if you are lucky, you may experience snowfall too. The exiting places nearby are Vasistha where you have hot springs and temple, Solang Valley is a picturesque place with good ski slopes and picnic spots, the road to Rohtang pass includes many tourist attractions like Nehru kund, kothi gorge and rahalla falls. Manali is a delightful place for honeymooners with good hospitality, excellent food (try chopstich for chinese) and good natured locals.
Feb will be bit cold,Discover for yourself the Kullu Valley, going upto the Rohtang Pass at 13050 feet and encompassing the beautiful Manali in-between, nestled between the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. As its magical charms enamour, you ebulliently agree that it has rightly been christened as the "Valley of the Gods.

Mannali is by far my favourite place to visit (with or without the family!) With the family = lots of traditional sightseeing ... without family = lots of adventure sports (trekking/angling, skiing etc)
Honeymoon? its perfect! whatever time of the year! February will be pretty cold while December should be just right
(If you do enjoy the cold, there is nothing really wrong with February either...as far as I am concerned, its a perfect time with the right mix of snow and greens) Having snow in December is not a certainty though and if you do get lucky, make sure you stay around the Old Manali area cos thats where the snow starts to come in and blanket everything before moving onto the rest of the town. (makes Old manali look pretty neat with the houses all nestled under a white blanket) Do make sure to visit the Hadimba area, spectacular pine forests...
Anyway, the bottomline is that irrespective of the time of the year, make sure you get accomodation in a decent hotel as having a warm, cosy room to come back to is really the most important factor. Its easy to handle the cold during the day, while you are on the move but evenings and nights should preferably be in a nioce, heated room where you can dry out!
Lastly, do keep in mind that the weather is likely to be unpredictable and could change. So you could have a day or 2 of semi-sunshine while the very next day could bring grey clouds that are dripping, depressing and cold as ice! They are usually the precursor to overnight snowfall.
