My husband and I are visiting next week for 5 days and are planning the trip entirely by ourselves. Wanted to know some must-sees and must-visits by real-time travellers.. Also some good places for shopping for apparels etc except Mustafa..
Jurong bird park , night safari, unerwater world, Sentosa, The Art retreat museum,tThe Pasir Ris park are some of the places you must go to . As for shopping, the whole place is a shopper's delight- Gaylang sarai, Orchard street, north bridge road and alos check with your hotel people . They can suggest the nearby shopping areas .
For a couple, I can recommend a candle-light dinner date on the Cable Car that connects to Sentosa. The dinner is typically a 3-course affair with wine and the works, in the evening. You can even book it online sitting in India. dont remember the URL, perhpas you can google it or check from the Discover Singapore website.
For shopping, there is but an ocean of opportunity, while time at hand for travelers is always limited.
In keeping with the fact that we need to eventually lug back what we purchase, I strongly recommend visiting an IKEA shop. These chaps have the most interesting designer stuff on offer which you cannot yet get in India and things you can actually use at home. They are not sinfully expensive and come designed in a way that you can actually buy them in a handy knocked-down state and "build them up" when you get home.
Get more details at http://www.ikea.com and choose the"Singapore" webpage for more details. They have a shop on Alexandra Road and another, I believe, out in Tampines, somewhere near the airport. This shop, I am tild, runs a free shuttle bus from the Pasir Ris and Tampines MRT stations as well.
Keep one whole day for Sentosa island, half day for Jurong bird park, half day for orchid gardens, also do night safari. Shopping is also not bad at Lucky plaza on Orchard Rd, Peoples Park in Chinatown and there may be so many more newer places now, you can check over there. Spend an evening at Clarke Quay and Chijmes near the riverside, enjoy the food and entertainment there. Newton Circus at night for food if you want local crabs etc, otherwise stick to Serangoon Rd if you only want Indian or veg.
Keep one day for sentosa. Jurong birds park and the night safari is also good. can spend some quite candle light dinner at clark quay and some rocking night at boat quay... you can spend the whole night at the beach on the east cost, its fun, you can get a tent and have some barbeque.. There is no dearth of shopping malls. orchard road is the best. you can also check out tempanies... Have a wonderful and memorable trip.
