Hi Joyjeet Its always best to get the ECNR stamped on passports prior to departure. (Nowadays the new passports are issued without this EC itself) Also advisable to apply for the Thai visa in India although its available at Swarnabhumi Airport on arrival, as sometimes it gets very crowded and takes too long. If u dont have time to apply for it locally, ensure u take 2 passport size fotos on white background,(without teeth shown!!) foto copies of ur passports and tickets. This will help u save some time at the "Visa on Arrival" counter at Bangkok.
Joyjeet Before i forget, to the best of my knowledge the ECNR has no relevance while applying for the visa, its only checked by the emigration authorities prior to boarding the aircraft. Hence it is suggested that u apply and get it before u leave, else they will simply turn u back at the airport without further discussions ! Too bad if u have a valid visa, boarding card, child. whatever..... Why take a chance naa ? Cheers !
