howfar is chakrata from dehradun.can we visit the place. if so what are the staying arrangements over there

Chakrata is approx. 140 km from dehradun. There is accomodation available there but nothing very exciting.

Chakrata is about 4 hours drive from dehradun. Since the military has a large presence there traffic is closed twice a day. Please find these timings or you could be stuck on the road for an hour or two. The only place worth visiting are the falls but it invoves a walk for half an hour. Please do not stay at Hotel Snowview, refer to my review for the reasons, and I do not know of any other options.

Well Chakrata is approx. 90 kilometers from Dehradun and not 140 as mentioned in one of the reply..... Any time in a year is gud to visit the place... and whenever you go be it summers or winters don't forget to carry some woolens and an umbrela... It snows in December-January. There are two modes to reach the place from dehradun. One is government buses and the other is jeeps which are available from Vikasnagar(around 20 kms from Dun) or Kalsi(around 30kms from Dun). Few people who are afraid of the dangerous narrow roads prefer to take these jeeps. Well, there are gate system here due to narrow roads, allowing only one way traffic. Gate system starts from Kalsi itself, then next gate is at Sahiya and the last one en route is finally in chakrata.
There are many small hotels and government rest house to stay.

So enjoy your trip in this lush green beauty.... and please keep it clean.... as it ought to be....
