Nope, not that I am aware of. I was there a few years ago and except for the main Gokarna beach the other two were completely deserted beaches. Lovely beaches and swimming in such lovely surroundings is the idea. (confession : it is so deserted that you can even try skinny dipping - I tried it & got addicted). Like all west coast beaches, do not go far into the sea unless you are really, seriously accomplished swimmer; there are currents that can catch you unawares.

Check out Om Beach Resort http://www.holidayiq.com/resortinfo_review.php?Resid=2874&fromState=&destName=&stateid=13&Destination_id=615&fromDest=yes they have water sports activities like surfing, water Skiing, parasailing and banana Boat cruise. They also facilitate trekking activities at a nearby forest.

Well, I'll tell you one thing like many of the places in India, we hear a lot about them but when we actually reach there we see the reality.

1st Thing : There are no night clubs there. Neither are there any rave/trans parties on mountains there or millions of hot women walking around in their bikinis.

2nd Thing : There is only one 'restaurant' where you can actually get food, and it's called "Namaste", it's infested with mosquitoes by night fall, they serve no alcohol and the food is basically like any food you would get in a normal restaurant along the coast or even towns like udupi/mangalore/kundapur. The inverted commas used for 'restaurant' by me are because its just a shack, the toilets are way below standards of hygiene.

3rd Thing : There is a nice 5 star hotel there called Swaswara, but keep one thing in mind, you will not be allowed to eat there unless you are staying there.

4th Thing : The beach is small, full of litter with cows and stray dogs... so there is nothing great about the "Om" shape.

5th Thing : People you will find there... are smoking up weed or high on something else. I think that is the only way you can enjoy the place!

6th Thing : There are no water sports and most of the people working there call you "Hi buddy", trying to be "cooool"

7th Thing : Why don't you go to goa instead??

And yeah having personally been to Om beach resort, I also know that you have to inform them of what kind of food you want 2 hours prior. And the rooms are not as good looking in reality as they are on those pictures, trust me, if you wanna spend go to G.O.A., karnataka was never and will never be a state that welcomes tourism!!

Gokarna is a must visit location but its not the town that we are talking about. Its the three beaches that are about 10 kms from the city. Catch a auto rikshaw to either OM beach which is smaller and has about 3 shacks or Kudle Beach which is larger and has over 15 shacks during peak season. You can even walk between both these beaches but dont' go there for water sports or any such sort of entertainment. Its a place to just laze around and chill.
Have fun
