Why are there no listings of hotels that are closer to the Guwahati Airport - at around a 4 -5km distance?I am aware that there are a number of hotels/motels en-route....

Air port is faraway from city so you can find lots of hotel after 10-12 Km.

Guwahati airport is outside the city. There are no hotels near by the . It is totally a suburban area. You have to come into the city, around 8-10 kms, and find out the hotels either in Paltan Bazar or Pan Bazar, which have a number of hotels, lot of choice sutiable to your purse. For travelling to and fro from the airport, you can use one AC bus service provided by Assam Transport, they charge around Rs.100/- for trip. The counter in the airport is in the main hall and one in the city is near the Ulubari bridge, near Paltan Bazar. These buses connect the flight timings very nicely.

Dear Nuni,

Lemme take the opportunity to answer your question. The airport at Guwahati is at Azara, a place away from the city of guwahati. Further to add to the fact the place is a suburban area. The area is in the developing phase with new educational institutions cropping up nearby and people from the nearby city of Guwahati settling down to relish the silent atmosphere of the area. The closest hotel that you can locate will be at Maligaon, which is almost around 15 kms away from the airport. However if you are in quest of a better hotel than you have to make your journey up to Paltan bazar or Panbazar. Thereafter HolidayIQ has everything in store for you to choose from.

Most of the hotels are within a distance of 20-25 km from LGB airport, Guwahati. The nearest, might be Hotel Prag Continental (10.5 km) or Hotel Dynasty (11 km) and Hotel Ginger (15 km).

Hi
As many others have replied the airport is outside guwahati
Only the Guwahati university is nearby
Most of the hotels are around Paltan bazaar and near railway station
For travelling from Airport to paltan bazaar take a share auto from near airport to Jalukbari, and a city bus from Jalukbari to Paltan bazaar.
Kamakya is on the way to Paltan bazaar.
The ferry in the Brahmaputra is also on the way.
Zoo is in the other side of the city.
The state museum is near the railway station.

It is unfortunate that you won't find any hotels near to the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati. The nearest hotel is Hotel Apollo, near the turning of Bharalumukh. You will get the complete view of the mighty Brahmaputra river from the hotel.

Previously, Hotel Urvasi, commonly known as Airport Hotel, was nearest to the . But due to very poor response from travelers, the Hotel was closed down. The fact remains mainly due to the business hub of Guwahati city to be far off from the . You won't get any communications after dusk, as there are no flights after 8pm.
