The place was pretty much what I expected for RS500 a night. Compared to the Oberoi where I spent RS12500 a night, it was at least 1/25th as good! 10/10 for value. I was clever enough to bring my drinking water and my own soap, but didn\'t think to bring toilet tissue. Tip: Bring your own tissues. Another tip: turn the water heater on when you get there. You will be lucky to get enough minutes of electricity actually working to heat up the water by morning. Oh - and you\'d be smart if you brought your own bedsheets. The hotel itself has only 3 rooms - each with great views over the plains below, but to book - well booking is an adventure in itself. You can\'t book at the hotel, or online, or by credit card. To book & pay, you have to find the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation office in Bangalore - 60Km away! And finding the KSTDC office was a bit of a battle too, although if you ring 91-080-2238016 they can tell you (or your taxi driver) how to get there. Find Corporation Circle and look for Badami House a little to the north.

Best Experience: Watching the sunrise next morning, the peaceful surroundings and the tranquility of the place make it worth while. I was seeking to get away from it all, and believe me, this place is away from it all! Food was good both at the hotel and the cafe I tried right near the hotel.

Worst Experience: Warm beer - but then with the electricity supply the way it is, what can you expect? And it didn\'t really mater that all the lights didn\'t work because the electricity was rarely working anyway.

The place is very beautiful, especially early in the morning. You can actually walk amidst the clouds. The Hotel was ok, nothing great. The room was small and clean, but the bedsheets were dirty and were stinking. We had to get the helper boy change it for us. The is service is good. The view from the room is beautiful. Do not try non-veg, stick to veg.

The fact that you\'re almost 5000 feet above sea level is inviting enough (though from Bangalore it\'s just 2000 feet above). It does provide its own \'high\' given that Bangalore seems to be losing its \'higher altitude\' attitude rapidly to pollution. The walk around the place on a non-holiday day is marvellous. The road and the climb is comfortable enugh to make it a great bicycle ride if you are game, albeit with a few regular stops to watch the receeding plains. (Pity I don\'t recall the exact time I was there. It must have been July, given the fine spray of rain that brought in a quick chill).

Best Experience: The quaintness and the sometimes quiet solace one finds there can be very welcoming.

Worst Experience: The food is so very average and the service appalingly slow. Though they tend to be oddly charming about it.
