Drive to Mana
We will visit the Badrinath temple in the morning before starting for Mana after a quick breakfast. Mana is the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border. From Mana, we will trek to the 400 ft high Vasundhara Falls over Bheem Bridge, a natural rock bridge over the Saraswati River. One unique fact about this waterfall is this that all the water of this fall turns to vapor. Overnight in camps.
Trek to Chakrateerth Meadow via Laxmi Van
A 2 km trek brings us through forests of birch to Laxmi Van, a small meadow where gujjars stay with their flocks in caves. The Dhano Glacier falls on the way. We will press onwards over a knife-ridge to Chakrateerth meadows, a fantastic camping ground carpeted with green grass and ringed with tall mountains. Beautiful alpine flowers bloom all along. Sometimes you can hear the thunderous sound of glaciers breaking in the distance. The upper Satopanth Glacier as well as the Chaukhamba and Swargarohini ranges can be seen from here. Overnight in camps.
Trek to Satopanth Lake & back to Laxmi Van
Satopanth Lake is just 3 km away from Chakrateerth meadows but the ascent is strenuous as the route is over glacial debris. The difficult climb is rewarded with the first glimpse of the placid waters of the lake. Hundreds of lotuses skirt the rim of the waters. We will spend a few hours soaking in the solitude before trekking back to Laxmi Van where we pitch tents for the night. Overnight in tents.
