Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

A day to remember!

Established in 1975 by the Sri Lankan Department of Wildlife Conservation, the orphanage feed, provide care and a safe sanctuary to stray baby elephants found in the wild. Watch 3 generations (over 100) of elephants wandering around the compounds of the Pinnawala elephant orphanage. The inherent gentleness of the baby elephants during the feeding and bathing time is an experience that you'll never forget.Stroll through the stalls at Kandy Market Square selling everything from the local fruits and vegetables to handicrafts and souvenirs to high-quality textiles and leather goods. Get a taste of authentic local cuisines and fruits available at the first floor of the market. Assorted varieties of teas, clothing items and books are available but make sure to bargain here.
Day 2

Cleanse your mind and the soul!

The stunning 17th century Temple of the Sacred truth is believed to house the upper left canine of Lord Buddha himself. Since 313 AD, the tooth has been an object of reverence and was enshrined in a gold casket shaped like a stupa. The interior of the temple is in stark contrast to the plain exterior. The inside of the temple is richly carved with inlaid wood and ivory. An oasis in Kandy, the botanical garden used to be private pleasure gardens of the Royal family till 1843. The 147 acres garden includes more than 4000 species of plants and is the largest garden in Sri Lanka. The fine collection of orchids and giant living Javan fig tree are some of the many highlights of the garden.
Day 3

A walk through mythology!

The Seetha Amman Temple marks the spot where Sita was held by Ravana. Constructed against the clear flowing stream, the temple was constructed according to South Indian style. The temple is said to carry footprints of Hanuman after the battle of Ramayana.
Day 4

Explore your wild side

Sri-Lanka's premier ecotourism destination, Yala National Park is known for its variety of wildlife and its fine coastline. Yala is an ideal place to spot the 'big four' of Sri Lanka wildlife, the elephants, sloth bear, the elusive leopard and the wild buffalo.
Day 5

Visit the sea turtles

Visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Kosgoda near Bentota and spend a day learning about the lives of these delicate creatures. You can also donate some money to the conservatory while you are there - why not do a good deed while travelling?
Day 6

A tryst with history and the sea!

One of the oldest districts of Colombo, the Fort is the financial center of Sri-Lanka and is also home to Colombo's modern architectural landmark: a pair of twin towers. The fort has retained almost all of its colonial buildings and is one of the last few surviving British colonial towns.Probably the best place in Sri-Lanka to play, eat, paddle in the sea and watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean, the Galle Face Green is an ocean-side urban park established in 1859. At the end of the promenade lies the magnificent Galle face hotel, which is an architectural marvel from the colonial era. Just walking distance from the Galle face green is the lighthouse of Colombo which provides a nice panoramic view of the sea and the harbour. The 34 m structure was constructed in 1952 and replaced the Old lighthouse, which is known functions as clock tower in the Colombo fort.
Day 7

A royal escape!

Located in the Pettah, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal is one of the most important Dutch era building in Sri-Lanka. This 1757 church is one of the oldest and probably the most impressive Dutch architecture in Columbo. Named as the den of wolves, the church is perched on a hill overlooking the Colombo harbour. The Sea street is home to New Kathiresan Kovil and the old Kathiresan Temple. Both these temples are dedicated to the war god Murugan sometimes called Skanda. Every year during the months of July/August these temples serve as starting point for the Hindu Ved festival. One of the most affluent suburbs of Sri-Lanka, the Cinnamon Garden is the location of the Prime Minister's Office, Colombo Town Hall, and National Museum as well as numerous foreign diplomatic missions. The area is named after from the former cinnamon plantation in this area.
