It was relaxation trip with my friend and my stay was clam. The hotel was located conveniently to travel and there was enough parking place. The external and internal appearance of the hotel was attractive. The staff in hotel were friendly, helpful and professional in services. The rooms were clean and well-maintained with required amenities like AC, TV and geyser and had an awesome garden view. The hotel management provided varieties of food and was delicious in taste. There was no delay during check-in and check-out process. The hotel provided swimming pool as an activity and the hotel organised sightseeing trip. The hotel is worth for the money which I spent and I recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Really amazing ambience. Very close to Dubare, Nisargadhama, river bank and other places. Excellent hospitality by the hosts. They make you feel like home, very comfortable..Overall it was WOW

Best Experience: On the day-1, it was thundering in the night with heavy rain. Since this was our first night stay in Eco-Habitat I was little scared. Eco habitat provided us a dog near our door for our security purpose and also told us to give a call at any time if we feel anything going wrong with a smiling face. I have never heard/seen this kind of hospitality anywhere

Very nice had a good and pleasent stay and the best thing was our food which was really good and the main thing is we had a best experience overall....

It was a very pleasant stay and we enjoyed the personal space.

Best Experience: The Private pools was something new...and it was pretty well kept

Worst Experience: No worst experience as such...but may be the menu can include authentic Coorgi food

We booked ecohabitat after a lot of online research and saw a lot of good reviews. However our experience turned out to be very different. We found a blanket had chewing gum stuck on it,which implies that not only a previous guest might have caused this but also that eco habitat doesnot even wash the sheets or blankets before serving the next guests (something no home would do-considering it is touted as a HOME stay) We had immediately told Gaurish (the only help around) about this and asked him to replace the blanket, which never happened throughout our stay. (the mobile coverage is very poor so making calls to the hosts is impossible most of the times) Through our3 night stay we barely spent time with owners Som and Chetna. The first day we landed, they had a VVIP guest (in Som's words) -some congress politician or judge so Som was accompanying them throughout the day. We were served dinner in our cottage and were told since there is no space in dining area you can eat here. Now in a homestay we would like to eat with the hosts but we didn't press for it as we are non-fussy and we thought we had 2 more dinners to do this. Moreover, the food was not really anything special. We had asked for chicken cooked in local style however it was just plain salt pepper chicken which was not very well marinated either. Water was served but no glasses! We asked their help to bring glasses which arrived around 10:30 PM much after dinner. We were paying for this dinner but desserts were not served and we had to specifically ask twice for the same. We had also asked Som to suggest places we could see nearby but he told us repeatedly we will discuss it later. Next morning he was unavailable until noon that's when we asked him what itinerary we could plan(we had a list of things though but we didn't know the distances) he told us a few and a taxi of his recommendation would take us to these places in Madikeri. He also suggested a 4*4 drive to us. We are into adventure travel so we were very keen however we asked him that starting the day at around 1 pm would we be able to do this? He said it should be fine. So we went ahead, after reaching raja's seat (breathtakingly beautiful), we called Som regarding the 4*4 drive- as he had asked us to call him post visiting Raja's Seat (by the way the taxi driver gives constant updates to Som about your whereabouts so it is a very weird ) So we asked him to arrange it , it was nearby itself so the jeep could come in few minutes. But the driver told us at 5 pm it would be a futile exercise as we won't be able to view anything, something Som should have told us but he didnot. So we cancelled it as we had already experienced 4*4 drives but we wnated to experience hills of coorg not the jeep. So now Som wanted us to pay the jeep driver for just waiting for us for maybe 5 minutes. We agreed anyway and kept waiting but he was nowhere to be found! This delayed our visit to Abbey falls. Earlier in the day we had lunch in a nice place in madikeri and going by last night's dinner and considering we had a busy half day we wanted a good meal so we packed our dinner from the same restaurant. We didnot visit dubare camp which is very very close to Eco habitat. Som told us about rafting in south coorg which is very nice and has more rapids though it is more expensive at Rs.1200 (Dubare- Rs.650). Since we have done rafting in Himalayan rivers and in USA we wanted something more than a beginner level and we told him we would like this other option. He also said there are tea plantations around which we could visit. So on day 3 we we left for this itinerary , with the same driver that Som sent. We had aksed the driver to arrive at 7 AM -he did but Gaurish didnot inform us and we kept waiting. We were told at 8:30 that the driver is waiting (driver didnot have our number) this rafting place was 3 hours drive away and we wated 2 hours waiting unnecassarily. We thought the driver is late so we aksed for hot water to take a shower (earlier we would have just left and showered at the rafting venue) and Gaurish informed the driver that the couple is getting ready lets not disturb them!!!! Disturb?? we are planning a rafting trip and we want to be there in good time and here our time (and money) are being wasted under a lame excuse of "donot disturb" ?!! We managed to leave around 9:30 - We had asked for breakfast to be ready and packed at 7- but that didnot happen- breakfast was prepared at 8:30-8:45 and served to us-- so in hindsight perhaps delayed kitchen work must have been the reason that we were not told of the taxi arrival under the pretence of 'not disturbing us'. The rafting which cost us 1200 each was just a 2km strecth! which Som didnot mention at all. We felt disappointed and cheated. We drove all the way, paid the taxi 2200 for a 2 km rafting (which was very very amteaurish as well as the guides do all the steering we sit chaperoned) Also, for dinner we asked for fish which was not available so we asked for spicy,gravy chicken , biryani and sweet corn soup (actually we asked for Tomato soup but Som asked if Sweet corn is fine so we said yes) .Again we were asked if we will eat in cottage (it seems the hosts's wife's brother was visitng so again we were unwanted) but we insisted on eating in didning area so atleast we could ask for water. Dinner was served to us (late again) and voila! We had biryani and some dry chicken!! I asked for spicy chicken with gravy. Again their help was away and after multiple calls he returned and after we asked about soup and chicken he said oh I was not told about it! Then he came back from the kitchen and asked us if he can serve us soup at 12(midnight!) We would really like to know in which home is the meal served in this manner?? Anyhow since the chicken with gravy would take more time as per the help we were served soup. It was knorr (or any local brand maybe) packet soup!! We were really angry by then and said no and aksed for roti and the gravy chicken and he brought some after 25 min -which was again not gravy and very, very sweet and with bones ( i asked for spicy and boneless) We were paying 4500 a night and yet we felt we were not wanted here moreover for the wrong ,dry chicken served to us and the dela in the dinner - we were called after being told dinner is ready! , there was no apology and we were billed for the dry chicken too! We were really appalled by the lack of hospitality and poor communication to the kitchen staff during our entire stay and particularly not being informed about the taxi arrival so for our drive to airport we booked a cab via the phone to not risk missing our flight - also Ecohabitat charges 4000 for a drop to mangalore while drivers coming from madikeri charge between 2500 to 3000 depending on the night charges) If a guest visits our town and we give sight seeing advice, we spend time with them understanding their travel history, their choices and donot make false or incorrect itinerary plans. It is clear to us that eco habitat is just interested in making money-no issue there it is a business after all- but what hospitality professional is rude to customers giving constructive feedback? Perhaps we should have nitpicked every minute and complained each time but we were on a holiday and wanted to give benefit of doubt. But after Som's sms to us we were really sure that we and any of our friends around the world are certainly not staying in this place. We were told that Som didnot spend time with us "to not disturb us" !! In all the homestays we stayed in the hosts always spent time with us even if we didnot even speak the same language-- that is what marks the difference between a hotel and a home. Som replied in his sms Eco habitat however that no other HOTEL will wake up at 3AM when guest checks out- so he himself confirmed it is not a homestay..moreover he didnot even have the courtsey to meet us before we left if infact he had woken up. The poor hygiene, the delayed,very delayed services and general focus on money making (the moment we finished our dinner we were told food bill is ready) really made us feel we made a mistake in booking our stay here.

Worst Experience: Dirty blanket- not replaced even after complaining
They forgot our dinner order and served other stuff and billed for both!
