Reached Aurungabad early morning. From Aurungabad to Ellora we travelled in State bus, got down at Ellora. We could easily find the Hotel Kailas just opposite to the bus stop.
On entering the premises, a board saying Hotel Kailas, facing the world famous Ellora Caves welcomes you. Yes literally that board says it, very close to the Ellora caves, from most of the rooms you can have the view of caves.
Rooms and cottages are available there AC or non-AC. Decent sized room with double bed and clean bathroom. Well maintained landscapes and gardens with swings and benches allows you to sit and chat or do some outdoor activities in the evenings.
Monkeys, squirrels and birds in the compound makes you closer to the nature.
Restaurant is non-AC, serves great food and good quantity too, you may feel the price little high. Alcohol is served in a separate room next to the restaurant. Even they serve food on the garden on request (Tables and chairs are arranged in the garden). Room-service also available. TV is available in rooms with DTH connection. No WiFi available, they allow to use their desktop for hourly rate. No-swimming pool.
Our plan was to spend one day Saturday at Ellora and Sunday at Ajanta. Itinerary was to move to Ajanta on Sunday early morning. But this property made us to spent second day also at Ellora, postponed Ajanta for future. Only difficulty I faced is booking a room, online booking is not available. You have to enquire the price and transfer the amount to their account and they will confirm booking on availability. Compared to Aurungabad hotels cost is high both room and restaurant but justifiable because of its great location.
Ajanta & Ellora is very famous place and nice city to enjoy the vacation trip. Recently my wife and I planned to enjoy the vacation trip in Ajanta & Ellora city. We were booked hotel Kailas for stay here. Location wise very nice and located into near main market. Reception area was fantastic and front office staff was very nice and well-trained.
Rooms of hotel was well-maintained and very clean with all services. TV, AC and WiFi services was working superb. Hotel food quality was amazing and breakfast was very tasty with lots of verity with mineral water for drinking. We enjoyed the luxuries services given by hotel Kailas in very nominal price.
Hotel Kailash accentuate the essence of Ellora Visit
The childhood dream to watch the ellora caves and the kailash temple from front became true this October. Through pre-research we knew Kailash hotel will be our staying option there. We got a glimpse of this hotel from Sandip Ray's KAILASHE KELENKARI. Booking was not made in advance as planned visit was in time when there is no rush of tourist.
The appearance was as good as expected. The beautifully mowed lawn, cover of trees and the scattered cottages in between was just same which was seen in photographs. Check-in was smooth and rooms were in perfect conditions. And to our surprise there was no television in room which I liked most. Caves were visible from the hotel and just a few steps away is the main entrance.
Their service is above any question-mark. Through the stay-room are quite a distance away from the control building smiling faces were present every time when something was asked.
Food is expensive as per my pocket but quality is really good. We tried just basic item not to exceed the budget.
All in all the pleasure of watching the Caves and staying in this hotel for two nights and 3 days was a soothing experience. I will visit AJANTA-ELLORA once more within next five year and shall check in here. Hope the ambiance will remain same as seen this year.
Overall it was a nice experience.Me and my wife stayed at the hotel for two nights. We had come to know about this hotel from the Bengali Movie "Kailashe Kelenkari".We are avid Feluda fans and could not avoid living in the same hotel where Feluda stayed and solved a mystery(of course in the story).I know anyone who has not read Feluda will not understand what I am talking about but dont worry.Staying at this hotel is advantageous for other reasons as well Some positives about the hotel: 1.Cottages have a very good view of the cave so does the non ac rooms. 2.The over all ambience is very calm and quiet. 3.Enough place for children to play around. 4.The cottages have a small balcony with a table and chair to allow you to have a cup of tea or beer and view the ellora cave in the evening light. 5. The common lawn area is a nice patch of green with a swing and and some chairs and tables with the ellora caves in front. Negatives: 1.The food at the restaurant is very costly but is usually good . 2.No room service is encouraged though it is available if you want to call the reception using your mobile(no phone in the room) 3. The room is neat but very basic(in both the cottage and non ac\ac rooms) and you might feel that it is overpriced but the ambience and the location compensates for it 4. No TV in the NON AC rooms.
For the Satyajit ray fans: As per the hotek authorities ,the person himself stayed in cottage#3 in 1974 while writting the story "Kailash Kelenkari"
The hotek has the follwoing type of rooms details of which you will find on their website: 1.AC Cave facing cottages 2.AC Non Cave Facing Cottages 3.NON AC rooms with TV 5.Non AC rooms without TV
We stayed at the cheapest one i.e. NoN AC room without TV(approx Rs 1700 = Rs 1500 + tax). Its a clean room, spacious but not luxurious by any means. The cottages which cave facing have almost the same view as the No AC room without TV.My suggestion is that if you do not want a TV and AC then the NON AC room room is good enough .
Best Experience: Watching the caves in the evening light while sitting on teh lawn swing with my wife by my side.
The Puri Bhaji at breakfast.
A Mr T Hussain who drove us to Ajanta caves in his cab had a good knowledge of the caves with Budha Monuments and who also acted in a small role in the movie "Kailashe Kelenkari".
Worst Experience: Having a Chicken Sandwitch for Rs 170 with only 4 bread grilled with a bit of chicken between them.
We are just back from Ellora. We two families with 5 kids had been to this place, it was an awesome stay. They have their cottages, we took two cottages which has all basic amenities and luxurious. Staffs at the reception, restaurant and the ones during the room service also acknowledged us very well. Food was pretty Indian style and was delicious. The hotel was located close to many caves so we could cover most of them. Our kids had a great time. The view from this place can’t be explained. I would suggest going with your family and kids and enjoying.
Best Experience: Location is very close to many of the caves so the kids enjoyed it.
