Best Auli Hotel Reviews
- Commendable service provided with good food

Though there's a lot to climb in the thin air there to reach the rooms as the hotel is scaled over a contoured site, but the facilities that were provided including good food and hot water when ever asked for, were above my expectations. The Restaurant was neat and tidy and had a good menu - thought Punjabi food and alu parathas were the patent in the region.
During the stay we discovered that the climate was totally unpredictable. We did a practice Skiing session in the afternoon and to our surprise we were sweating - though it was covered with snow all over but the layer of cloths we had on us the exercise done during the skiing made us sweat. By evening 6 it got very windy as if it would rain heavily. The winds got stronger by late evening and we hit the rooms, switched on the heater and spent time playing cards. The out side view was so beautiful with shear darkness all around amidst the mountains and clouds.
In my 2 days stay (without electricity) I also visited the neighboring Hotels but nothing matched the quality of rooms and facilities these people were providing. Except the 6-8 impressive yellow cottage resort named Royal Village but the cottages were real tiny with tiny bathrooms. The only plus point was they were entirely in wood which naturally created warmth inside. But they didn't had any generator facilities. The restaurant they had served good food too. Which can be tried if you are bored eating at the same place again and again. Next if I plan to visit Auli I am definitely going to book with the GMVN only.
Do not forget -
Carry proper woolen wears and raincoats/ umbrellas as the climate is totally unpredictable. You get gumboots and woolen jackets on rent too.
Apart from Skiing the best thing to do at Auli is to spend time with the locals there and get more to learn the way they live at this beautiful location throughout the year.

Good : It is at the highest location at Auli with forest and accessible snow peaks on back side and scenic snow cladded peaks on front. One can see picturesque view of Nanda Devi peak from the rooms
Bad : Motorable road is 1.5 kms away from hotel. For the rest 1.5 kms, you are required to take chair car. There is chair car facility which operates between 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m. If you don't reach before 4.30 p.m, you can't go to hotel. The chair car charge is Rs 300 per person and they take additional seats for luggage. We paid Rs 2400/- for 6 people and luggage.
Good : Hotel have suites and apartments. Though the booking was for upto 4 adults, we were 4 adults and 2 kids and stayed without paying additional for kids. Rooms are spacious with lot of sunlight and all requisites. Spacious beds, sofa sets, dining table set, Television, room heaters etc. Every room have independent balcony. Cleanliness and room service is excellent.
Bad : The tieup is only for rooms. So kitchen set is not provided. Usually one carries eatables and food items but you can't cook as they don't provide hot plate and oven along with utensils for QVI members.
Good : Food is tasty and pricing is reasonable. Service is good.
Bad : The menu list is limited. But considering the geography it is fair.
Good : It have table tennis, snooker, carom and other stuff for indoor activities. Club hall is large enough to accommodate 15-20 groups. All facility is free unlike club Mahindra.
Outdoor activities like trekking, horse riding, skiing are available at reasonable cost.
Overall good experience. Considering harsh weather condition, 7 nights stay is too long. I actually stayed for 5 nights but family members got tired after 4th day. So 4 nights stay is ideal.

Don\'t venture driving up beyond Auli for the Clifftop Resort in your own vehicle. Instead, call up the ever friendly crew from the resort who would drive down and pick you up as if you are on a National Highway !
Auli has one of the best slopes in the world facilitating snow skiing during winters from beginning of January to the end of March. The 3 kms long slope ranges from 2519 mt to 3049 mt offers a magnificent panoramic view of central Himalayan peaks like the Nanda Devi (7817), Kamet (7756), Mana Parvat (7273) and Dronagiri (7066).
Do not plan any trips to places like Badrinath, Himkund Saheb, Valley of Flowers, etc.,while you are staying at the resort. It is strongly recommended that you stay in the resort itself and explore the nature in its full glory. Early mornings are most suitable for viewing the salt-and-pepper peaks which would look like they are staring at the balcony of your room !! Don\'t forget to keep your cameras in standby mode at all times, as you are not sure when the clouds will open up and present a magnificent view, particularly in monsoons.
Nearby places like Joshimath ( with Adya Shankaracharya\'s matt founded some 2500 years ago) and Tapovan (with thermal springs with miraculous healing powers on the banks of river, Dhauli Ganga provide options for short visits.
The resort management and crew are sweet and take special care of you with their friendly service. The basic food and other necessities are well taken care off in the airy, roomy and self contained suites, with kitchenette attached.
The celestial beauty of Uttaranchal blessed with magnificent glaciers and majestic snow clad mountains leave you with ever lasting memories in your mind and soul.
Best Experience: Trekking with the skiing cum trekking guide, Anil Prasad is a must for the residents. He is a pleasure to trek with and is completely professional in his approach. A visit to Gorson meadows (3056) with golden oaks and conifers all around present a dream trek with the view from top of the world. In the words of the guide, this is no less than a New Zealand or a Switzerland. It would be difficult for you to imagine any other possible shades of blues and greens from the treat your eyes can have.
Worst Experience: None. The location is tough to reach. But that is what makes it adventurous and interesting.

Resort Building n Mess gives a feel was a big colleges long corridors and a eating zone. I really like the ambiance. Food was good specially Allo ke parathe and puri sabji. Its a treat to eat warm served food in such a cold weather. Skiing was there just out side one has to trek just 100meters for it. Cost wise its very effective with complementary breakfast. I suggest you to stay and enjoy the environment and have a pleasant stay. Don't forget to keep Sweater and jackets because GMVN provides blankets and not those.
