Reception is really impressive, as the welcome of guests just by heart and after completion of the check-in formalities, we were escorted to our studio, indeed every luxury was available from room to bathroom and wide windows for magnificent river view.
The arrangement and interior was magnificent, I do not hesitate to admire the house keeping. As this resort is built on a hill, so may be a problem for old and disabled, whereas for young couple is a paradise. It has two swimming pools, one lovely spa, a small fitness centre and indoor sports like Table Tennis and Snooker besides it's sitting lounge in the reception area. It has multi cuisine restaurant Kapriz and the Fratelli well arranged bar and vineyard with smart servers.
Food and beverage quality is excellent, maintaining the Aristocracy of the taste. This is just located beside the Road and offers nice room service. Meals of any kind is not much costly in comparison to the excellent quality of Food & Beverages. Charming staff, heart touching location with so comfortable stay will not allow to go any where else. Almost a great landmark in the North Goa, from where one can easily approach to any place of choice to make more rejoicing the vacations and a romantic holiday. As every individual is with five senses, and exploring the surroundings become an adventure.
Location of the hotel was very good. It was situated far from the city. Hotel staff people were very nice with us. I went there along with my friends and family both in August. Hotel was near to transportation. Surroundings of the hotel were very nice. Appearance wise, it was very good. Second time I will come again there. Immediate service was given by them. There was no delay in check-in and check-out time from the hotel side. Room was very good there. Furnishings like pillows, bed sheets, blankets, and washroom were neat and clean in the room. Nice view was available from the room. I booked deluxe room there. There was some problem with AC so they gave us other room. They cleaned the room regularly there. 24-hour hot and cold water was available there. I took food in this hotel. We are vegetarian and food was very good there. Quality wise, it was good. Indian, Chinese, and all types of food were available there. Food price was reasonable. Swimming pool, gym, indoor and outdoor games were available in this hotel. I did use them. Vehicle was arranged by them for sightseeing on asking. Hotel was value for money. I can refer it to other travellers. No improvement is required there.
The hotel is built in a large area and the location is perfect as its close to the Calangute Beach. There is swimming pool also for the guests. But not sufficient parking. Many times we needed to park our car in their other hotel 'neelams the glitz'. Before booking this hotel, we were already apprehensive about it after reading the reviews on the internet, and the hotel's stay proved all our fears true, rather should say horrible.
Now comes the worst part of our stay. The hotel staff was pathetic. I can say that there was no coordination between the front desk and the upper level management. On our arrival we were assigned two rooms in there G block 'Room no 18 and 19'. We just entered the room no 18 and there was so much smell of cigarette smoke. The staff was not even aware of this. On our complaint they started spraying room fresheners in our presence. On our continuous complaint and persistence finally they changed our room, for changing the room they were quite apprehensive and tried to convince us that there is no smell, like we are feeling the smell even doesn’t exist for their nostrils.
When changed the room we were shifted to adjacent room no 17, and from their the nightmare of our stay started. The bathroom was not in the proper working condition. The controlling knob for shower/tap switching was missing. We complained to the front desk, and they said they are just coming. But after that we needed to make 2-3 calls to remind them as we needed a shower badly after such sweaty noon. Finally one person came in the evening around 7 or 8 pm, and he just switched the shower mode to tap mode without even fitting the missing control knob, mentioning that the store was closed, and he will repair it in the morning.
The very first thing of my concern, why didn't they check their rooms before the person checks-in, also it was our job to get the fittings done, allow their staff, technicians to break our privacy. For god sake, that's a hotel and not our home where we need to take care of the amenities. So poor and careless attitude of the hotel. The second day also the shower issue was not worked out till afternoon in spite of our continuous calls. The front desk kept us redirecting to room service, and room service kept on saying person was coming. After having breakfast, we left for sightseeing instructing the lady at the reception to please make sure the fix was done. But I guess that was of no use. As around 2:30 pm when we were back to the hotel, the same issue was existing. And now the cherry on the cake was the room AC was not working.
This all made us so furious and uncomfortable stay. On each phone call the room service would say they have sent the technician in our room, while no one ever visited us. Finally after 2-3 more calls some of their senior managers arrived with the technician and worked upon the AC showing their ignorance about our complaint. Don't know if it was the communication hiccups between the front desk, room service and the management, or everything was just so ignorable to them that they didn't even bother about their clients discomfort. After almost half an hour and in between so much words exchange, finally both issues got resolved.
On our continuous persistence to change our room, they didn’t even let an ear. As per them if they do not succeed in repairing the AC, they will change our room. Oh wow such a kind thought they had at least. At the end we had to adjust with their maintenance, compromising with our privacy and rest time to their maintenance work. Totally this behaviour was so unprofessional and unacceptable on the hotel management part. Again, a new story on the next morning was waiting for us. One of the lampshades stopped working, but this time we ignored it, as we were tired of getting the issues resolved. At another instance the lift of this so called G block was under maintenance, and we had to take another block's lift to go downstairs.
If by any chance you get to book this hotel, please make sure all things are working before you check-in. We had such a terrible experience with this particular room no 17 of G block. Also about the Wi-Fi part, they do have free access to it, but that is not accessible in the rooms, you have to remain in the lobby downstairs at the reception to get the range. Now, don't they know who was going to sit their like if its a cafe for internet. Everyone likes to access the internet in their own comfort zone, rather than sit publicly holding the devices or they are smart enough to limit their Wi-Fi usage.
In between all this mess up, the only good part was the breakfast, and the cab pickup and drop. They had many varieties and delicious breakfast. The food they offer for dinner was also good, but the room service was so pathetic, they even forget their etiquette’s and on our request to serve soon, they didn't forget to mention ' jab banega tabhi to ayega'...this is how they treat their guests...So pathetic.
Immature, unprofessional and inexperienced Owner, Arrogant Reception guy and Filthy bathroom
This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in so far. Dont get me wrong- the rooms are just OK but it is because of the staff and the owner that our experience with the hotel was terrible. First off, the person at the reception- Jitu is the most unfit and unsuitable person for the job. Being friendly is one thing but being intrusive and annoying is another. I was so irritated with this person that I felt like hiding myself every time I crossed the reception while going out just to avoid a conversation with him. His displeasing, irritating, bothersome and vexatious nature spoiled our whole experience. One more thing that I want to mention about this annoying fellow- Jitu is that when we checked out of the hotel, he didn't even feel like extending the courtesy of wishing us a happy journey or asking us how our stay was - I guess the word hospitality is alien to this guy. Now let's talk about another obnoxious little brat, the owner- Dev. He is the most impolite, rude, discourteous and uncivil person I have met or seen in my whole life. I would like to mention an incident here, to provide some evidence. On the day of Holi, just when we were locking our room to go out to the beach, this ill-mannered, uncouth and uncivilized fellow without warning threw color at me. On top of that when I stared at him, he had the audacity to say that today's Holi and he has the right to throw color at anyone he wants. REALLY ??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME I am pretty sure that he was drunk as well and not in his senses- Just imagine !!! You will also be able to find out more about this guy's character once this review is published and he replies to my review. The bathroom was filthy and smelly .. The breakfast- TERRIBLE. The food was served cold, didn't taste good and we had to wait for almost half and hour for the breakfast to arrive. So we decided not to have our 'Free' breakfast there. It was totally unhygienic with ants moving all across the table and a foul smell present all across the open space where the breakfast was being served. The waiters are pathetic and unprofessional. I saw one of them hitting on some of the guests from abroad. As you will agree, this HAS to be and actually was one of the most unpleasant, uncomfortable and disgusting hotel experience of our lives. You will get to know more about the character of the owner or the reception guy Jitu once you read their reply to this review. My advice - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - YOU WILL REGRET
We wanted a Resort by the sea side comfortable for a family of four-my husband me and my 2 kids -13 and 10yrs.CSM was perfect-right on the clean and beautiful Baga Beach.We had a full floor of the cottage to ourselves(two large rooms) It was just 2 minutes walk to the beach and the Shack.Though we went off season (Aug 2005) the permanent shack there called The Buzz was more than sufficient to keep us happy-the fishermen caught live fish in front of us and cooked it as we wanted -also they had bar be cues by night -live and lively! We were never pesterd by the women selling their trinklets and scarves unless we wanted to. It felt as if the beach belonged to us as there was no unnecessary crowd-only serious sun bathers (foreigners) and families. During the day there was surfing boards and Jet Ski-ing offered to those who wanted to use them as well as Tattoo-painting..simply awesome.
Best Experience: 1. The staff took great care of us 2. We had free transport to and fro from theAirport 3. A half day sight seeing and a lovely boat-cruise on the house. 4. Great personal touch-whether it was about our eating,shifting beds,asking for hotwater or cleaning the cottages-it wa all catered for with a smiling face 5. From the Receptionist to the waiters to the Manager all were very courteous and helpful 6. Last and not the least -we were right on the beach thats what we wanted..it may not be a 5 star luxury hotel but it was no less !! We cherished every moment of our stay-the beach, the sight seeing, Goan cuisine(Xacuti,Cafarel, prawns,shark king fish, Tuna,Bebinca the yummy dessert) and the lovely Port wine-nothing was left unfulfilled.
Worst Experience: Not any -just that this being the off season the main chef was on leave so a few items on the menu card were not available -but Mr Edward the manager more than made up for it
