Me and my friend have these annual chill out trips and this year we decided to visit Chikhaldara, since I stayed in Nagpur and it is 4 hour drive. Its a quaint little place with nothing much to see except the routine sunset point and a few waterfalls you can see from a distance. There is also the Melghat Tiger Reserve, but I don't think it offers much in terms of animal sightings. But if you want to spend a few days away from the hubbub of the city, and have friends and family for company, and of course some beers on you, this is the place to be. This place used to be the best resort in the area, until a new resort by MTDC has come up recently. It's a huge property with number of cottages lined up on either side of a concrete path. There is a sort of garden, a common area and a disused lake downstairs. Every room has a television and a dish TV connection which is functional. The bed etc. Is comfortable, but my advice is that you take the cottage with extra room, which has a sofa cum bed thrown in. This comes in handy if you are traveling with your family. Also these types of rooms have a better appearance and a much better view overlooking the greenery.
The best part about these cottages is the small balcony where the mist descends specially around monsoon period. The services offered are quite average, one would tend to think that they are slightly under staffed. However whatever staff they have is quiet courteous and ready to help. The food is tasty and neatly served. A word of advice for fellow travelers: Please carry your own entertainment equipments, games, booze, etc. For they have none. Also try not to take the cottage at the far end of the property as it might get a bit creepy, since we found that the sliding window can be opened upon the slightest of effort. All in all a worthwhile visit if you have a lot of relaxation on your mind.
We had a stay at this hotel last year during our visit to the beautiful little hill station near Amravati in Maharashtra. This place is among the Satpudas and is really worth visiting. This hotel in which we stayed met to almost all our expectations. Rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were very clean and posh. The staff was very gentle and polite. Service provided to us was also excellent. The food had a awesome "Varhadi" taste. This hotel is recommended by myself to everyone as the fares can also be afforded.
During last September, I was here with my family. The hotel had an awesome appearance and it is a very big and spread along a big area. Many outdoor activities are also seen here. Rooms are big and spacious and gives us a homely experience. Staff is humble and lenient. I would recommend everyone to have a visit here because if I go the next time to Chikhaldara, I would love to stay here for long.
The hotel was located near by the city. The staffs at the hotel were kind and active. Overall appearance of the hotel was very good. The check in and checkout procedure was on time. The room given to me was clean and tidy. All the amenities in the room like AC, TV, geyser and refrigerator were in working condition. The hot water facility was there at the hotel. The laundry service was provided by the hotel. The view from my gallery was fine. The food which they prepared for me was tasty and the quality was great. The price of food was reasonable. The activities were not organized by the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for other travellers.
I stayed here for 3 days during my summer road trip to Chikhaldara; not the best of seasons for picking a road trip to the central regions of India. The MTDC resorts were booked and so I checked in to this alternative. The ambiance is inviting, greenery lined cottages which offer the right amount of privacy (well spaced out) for the solitude lovers, and enough avenues to socialise for the more gregarious travellers.
Since, it was off season I got what I gathered was a higher rate than usual. For the price, the room itself could not be described as value, but the overall experience ensured I had an enjoyable stay. The service levels are good and the food is very welcoming. The nights were particularly alluring; late night ambles under moonlit nights in temperatures that were a jolly respite from the heat. The tourist points are close, making this an ideal stay place.
All in all, a good place to take a few steps back from the hustle and bustle of city life.
