We had prior booking as it was consecutive 3 days calendar holiday. We were a group of 6 persons(3 couples). We started from Bangalore around 5 in the morning and it took 6 hours to reach the destination. It is the best place in Coorg if you want to relax, away from the city hullabaloo.
1) The homestay owner Suman welcomed us wholeheartedly. 2) All the 3 rooms are so big that they can accommodate 15 persons at a time. Good for a big group. 3) The food prepared by his family is excellent, especially dry Chicken. Veg items like idli was fabulous. 4) We could have done trekking on the nearby hill. However we avoided that fearing the Leeches. Trekking would have been exciting in that area. 5) A very peaceful place where one can enjoy sitting in the balcony and listening to the chirping of birds. 6) The coffee and black pepper plantation nearby is best to stroll in the morning. 7) I have been to many hotels and homestays earlier, but the hospitality of Suman and his family was the best.
Do give a visit if you want to spend some time amidst the beautiful nature of Coorg.
Misty Woods Resort a resort worth the stay The drive up to Madikeri was smooth. Once you take the left turn on Madikeri highway and start your journey towards Talacauvery – a 40 km drive to the Misty Woods, the road grew thinner and the conditions are average to bad as you proceed towards Napoclu and Kakabebe. The last few kilometers drive is thru thick vegetation and plantation which U will enjoy. The reception is right at the entrance of the resort and the check-in is by ever enthusiast Danny and it was fast. Luggage is taken in a jeep and then U go thru a little grind of climbing a steep walk way…series of steps before reaching your room. Of course, anyone who has difficulty can take the jeep. The resort is built on a hillock and our rooms were facing a valley and the entire place is nature filled, blessed and kissed. The roar of a very nearby water fall, chirping of crickets and birds and whistling sound of trees……....it is so heavenly ……… An excellent retreat!!! While the rooms are decently decked the wash room is also good. The resort is providing clean towels, basic toiletries etc. The bedding / pillow & linen are clean. Sufficient cupboard space, dressing table and working table is also provided. There is also a very decent attic space provided which can accommodate kids. There is no TV or Air conditioners but ceiling fans are provided. Year thru these locations enjoy a very salubrious climate. A fire place is available……unlike certain resorts, it is really working. The resort provides wood and light it for you. The resort resembles Kerala architecture. The dining area is quite spacious and clean. The food served is fresh and good. There is a swimming pool, but it was not operational during our visit. “Thadeyana Mol†which is the highest point of Coorg is near the resort. The most thrilling, unforgettable part was the fantastic drive, on a 4W jeep, by Mr John thru the rocky terrain and the mule tracks of the hill. One can also go up the hill trekking. The views are awesome….On a clear day one can see the Arabian Sea line from the top of the hill .An air of freshness all around!!!! Otherwise, there is a nalapad palace and the water fall very close to the resort. Top of all, the staff…. each one of them sells………a service personified team……..very attentive and responsive…. Net-net, an excellent experience!!!! A highly recommended resort!!!!
Best Experience: The nature, the ambiance, the environment......everything so well aligned....Your room faciing the valley with thick vegetation, the roar of water fall, the chirping sound of Crickets and birds and the whistling noise of the breeze thru the trees...WOW...& of course the dare devil driving of Mr. John thru the rocky terrain up the hill and on the mule tracks.....the fire place in the room......
Worst Experience: The stay was short but nothing was found worst....
Undoubtedly it was a great experience. The stay at this resort was good, the cottage was neat and clean. The food at their restaurant, though the options are very limited, was tasty. The Staff were very helpful and the front-office person, Danny, made sure that we enjoy our stay thoroughly, he made our complete travel plan and he indeed made sure it was executed perfectly as planned. I have no hesitation in recommending this resort for a perfect family getaway.
Best Experience: The resort has so many things to explore within - butterflies, snails, lake, water-falls (beware of leaches on your way to the water-fall), etc.. Its aptly named as \'misty woods\', as it gives an amazing view of the early morning mist over the surrounded mountains. You can trek until you get lost inside the coffee plantation and find so many interesting stuff on your way.
Stayed at the resort for two days in March 2016. Travelled with family. The purpose of the visit was to relax and Misty Woods offers the perfect setting for that. Located amidst forest lands, the resort provides a tranquil setting and fresh air. Right in the lap of nature, it is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of urban life. It is far from the usual tourist attractions in Coorg. Those who would like to visit the tourist spots, need to travel quite a lot. Amenities include a swimming pool, games room, and cycling. Carry badminton racquets and shuttlecock. The rooms are decent and the staff cleans the rooms daily. Keep doors locked to keep out insects. ATBs are available for Rs. 500. Take a walk inside the property. There is a waterfall inside the property and the walk through the plantations will surely help you shed few kilos. Located on a hilly terrain, a walk from the cottage to the restaurant and back will easily make you feel tired. There is no room service but they try their best if you would like to order for food in your room. Buffet is a decent spread of veg and non-veg items. Hot water is available from 7 AM -10 AM and 7 PM - 10 PM. It is advisable to take cottages near to the restaurant if you have aged people travelling with you.
It was a family vacation. The hotel was conveniently located. The hotel was very far from the city and deep forest. It was more than 20 kms far from the bus stand and the railway station. The hotel was located in a remote area. I like the surroundings of the hotel. The staff behaviour was fine. There was a single problem in mobile phone. The interior and exterior of the hotel was good. They should provide an intercom facility. The room was spacious, clean and well-maintained. The amenities like AC, TV, geyser and refrigerator were working properly. There was a good view from my room. They regularly cleaned the room. They provide typical South Indian food. I taste veg food and it was okay. The food cost was expensive. The other activities were not provided. This hotel stay was not safe, because it was located in a forest. The best thing about the hotel was its location. This destination was very good. There were no sightseeing trips organized by the hotel. The hotel was a little value for money. I will not recommend this hotel for other tourists.
