This Hotel is situated outside Dehradun towards Airport, though Airport is further 30 kms from the place. But in turn what it offers is clean clear surroundings and unbridled view of Mussoorie and other hills, which is a treat to eyes.
Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms large, it contains all standard amenities which on expects in a good hotel. As it is not a very tall building the stairs are navigable and a pleasure to take. It becomes all the more relaxing when we see that Its Lift cars are small. It has a big restaurant and separate bar, has good banquet halls which 180 degree view. It has swimming pool and lawns, has an impressive parking besides being on outskirts of Town parking is not an issue at all.
Staff is courteous and food is good. Since it is out of town, you avoid lot of city traffic if you are planning to visit areas around Dehradun and if you plan to go to Mussoorie take Bypass. Sleep quality is good and facilities are well catered to and small nit picks are available on demand.
We arrived at Dehradun as international backpackers with a bus from Rishikesh, and our tuk driver brought us to the Tyagi road. After walking into a number of hotels, and realising they were all full, we found Hotel Abhinandan who quoted us price of 400INR per person(strange, as we thought its always price/room! ). The front desk initially had issues with one of us staying, cuz of having an Indian ID, a valid DL(another super strange thing! But after speaking to their 'manager'/owner on phone, it was cordially resolved. The stay was not the best in terms of room. The rooms were really small, and the bathrooms didn't even have a shower head. While taking shower one of the bathroom windows fell outwards, exposing all the dirt and garbage which was stuck there, including rappers and condom packets etc! The bedsheets weren't super clean either. There was also a supposed gas leaks in one of the make shift kitchens, and they shut down the pipeline only after we reported the smell at 2330 hrs in night! Also, we were refused WiFi when we asked for password, but again when we insisted that we needed it, and were even ready to pay for it, some backstage management and decisions then let us use it! Will also like to mention up sides though, which included a really good terrace, nice waiters and smiling staff, a helpful cordial owner, a really good food menu which wasn't very expensive and yet was very delicious. The WiFi worked pretty well in the room! Another thing worth to mention here, is that they made us fill the C- forms ourselves, which almost took an hour for us. Isn't it the job of the front desk to sort those things out themselves? We never encountered such an issue before, even in small scale backpacker hostels! In a nutshell, maybe for a lower budget, we would have overlooked all these, but for such a big hotel and paying 800INR a night, more is expected! (The Owner seemed really enterprising, and I am sure he can fill these small blanks up !!
This hotel reception hall is very nice. Very nice rooms. Food are very delicious. Many types dishes are available in the hotel. The room was spacious but that was about all. There was no plug point in sight to charge the cellphone or the laptop. I discovered that there was a plug point behind the mini fridge, but that required me to push the heavy wooden box which contained the fridge. I asked for help and the electrician promptly got me an extension cord. But that gave out sparks. More excitement was to follow. The lights went out suddenly and the electrician returned only to fiddle with the air conditioner duct. The lights came back and he explained it lightly as a case of short circuit. Not a comforting thought for a tired traveller who has to spend the night in the room where the next spark could set off a fire. The Vatika restaurant was a great place with some tasty food. The complimentary breakfast in the morning also was good. Hope the management attends to some of the issues with the room.
A compact hotel which has come in the heart of the town to meet the demand of both business and holiday trotters. The hotel is situated next to the Pacific mall. The hotel is compact, but comfortable. The entrance is smart, but not very large with basement car parking facility. On the ground floor conference room is situated. The rooms are done up well with a neat look The hotel boats of a roof top restaurant is a good attraction which has an extended terrace. The Hotel has a good bar which is an attraction in the evenings. However the Hotel is compact with limited open space, however the staff is courteous. The Hotel can arrange a car or provide other travel advises. It is a good option for Business guests.
Good location, costly food, far away from the city
Pros: Nice hotel away from cacophony of the city. Good air-conditioned room, roof-top dining hall with hill view. WiFi service is very good.
Cons: Cable TV service in my room was down for 3 days. It was not fixed. Cost of food is unreasonably high. There's not another restaurant or food market nearby. No medical service on call. Pharmacies are too far from the hotel. Every time one wants to go out should hire a taxi, there's nothing within walk-able distance. Not good for family with kids as late night parties held outside used to disrupt our sleep at night.
