I had visited mcleodganj for 4 days on a leisure trip. We were 5 people in all and we took a villa for all of us at clouds end villa. Located around 2 km from mcleodganj and 4 km from Dharamahala is a taxi ride away from both locations. The hotel can call for the taxi on demand. Will charge 100 to 150 rs. All can take a sharing ride from at rs 20 per person to mcleodganj from a point 500m away from the hotel.
Owned by minister chandresh kumari ji, the hotel is known by her name in the town. The villa had two rooms and a drawing room. The rooms were sufficiently heated in the fag end of January and so was the drawing and dining area.
The bathrooms were simple but had basic amenities of running hot water and English toilet seats. The beds were a bit squeaky and the blankets super heavy giving a whole hill station kind of feel. But the customer service overdid whatever little shortcomings were there.
The caretaker took us as guests in there home. Took care of our breakfast with lovely options like upma, corn flakes and hot milk. Bread butter jam and marmalade and a choice of eggs everyday.
Do not miss the dinner at all in case you stay at this place. They charge a small amount for the same and give super home cooked meals like dal chicken and matar paneer all cooked post asking you the choice of menu.
Overall a lovely experience. Loved the place will go again.
I stayed there for four nights and took their premium room. The room had a fantastic view of the valley overlooking Dharamsala on one side and the snow capped majestic Himalayas on the other side. The floor to ceiling glass window with a private balcony made the view from inside the room a gorgeous one. One can just idle away the whole day sitting there. Having said that the room, which was their premium one, was smaller in size and the electric light outlets were not all working.
The chef was simply fantastic. All the dinner dishes were cooked to perfection. Every items were meticulously prepared and presented with perfect garnishing as one would see in a five-star restaurant.
The front desk and the hotel services were very warm even though some basic amenities were missing, like the bed sheets were never changed or the toiletries replenished even for once during our four days of stays despite we opting for room service everyday. The Wifi worked intermittently and the speed was slow.
The hotel is conveniently located at a 5 minutes uphill climb from the main McLeodganj market square.
Overall, I enjoyed being there and would not mind visiting again.
The resort is aptly located, the surroundings are purely serene with very little construction around. It is an extremely peaceful place in the lap of nature. I reached there in the evening and just walked out to get a feel of the surrounding mountains that were dressed in white mist and clouds, kissing the skies.... the trees with their arms raised were inviting the clouds of the setting in Monsoon; wishing to hug them; the surroundings were made musical by the chirping of birds who were greeting each other in a very rythmic fashion- bidding goodbye, the sound of flowing water nearby hiiting against rocks added to the beats and the breeze hitting the leaves did the job of special effects. What else can one wish for??? just sit , admire and adore the creation of Almighty.
From the rooms one can have a picturesque view of the valley. Just sit in the room balcony or the nicely made terrace garden and sip in some coffee, and also gather food for soul through the windows (your eyes). The rooms are quite big and the hotel provides all the modern amenities in a silently placed backdrop so one gets the opportunity to enjoy best of both world\'s!
The Bhagshu falls thats a little ahead than the Nag temple is a great experience for the trekkers with a little adventure and beauty of nature, there are many spots on the falls so its your choice to go to the base, mid way or just climb higher and higher... Dalai Lama Monastery at McLeodganj too adds to the serenety of your experiences.
Above all for the great achievements- to be blessed by the \'Mother earth\' there are many goddesses around at distances of 100 - 150 kms; namely Jwalaji, Brajeshwari, Chintpurni & Chamundaji. The ruote to those places too is an enchanting experience, one feels that God is present in each of the rocks or the leaves of the trees too... thats why Himalayas is called Devbhoomi.. hence it is all on the experience one gets.
Best Experience: The best part is that one is truly away from the hustle & bustle, there is more of nature around - less concrete and humans who tend to spoil it..... and if you get bored of the silence or with various sounds of nature; for the TV or movie lovers there is an entertainment room too. The resort is well maintained with a variety of restaurants to sit in.
Hotel Location is good. Room is OK, but room size is too small. But may be hotel is new either renovate that time. We have face much problems. Like no intercom. No room heater etc. Bad room service. Only my family stayed in whole hotel. Food is OK. But for order-need time is 4 hours in advance. I can't understand which type of hotel booked by Make my trip.
Overall its really not value for money. And room tariff charged by Make my trip is 1597 after discount. And actual room tariff in hotel is 700 only. You can see attached photo of hotel tariff. I hope Make my trip return my difference amount. And again I said, Overall its really not value for money.
The hotel ain't a penny worth stay. First the location is far off from and the road is all chiseled and rough and in shambles.
Second, it is not a hotel but much like a guest house, with an retired govt servant old person, who runs the room, with two guys working as all cook, help, cleaners, helpers, waiters, servers, domestic maids.
The rooms was in tattered states with flaky walls which was moistening and the paint was peeling off, giving a pugid smell in the room.
Dead insect body lying in shelfs and bathrooms, broken sofa piece (a leg broken and the sofa tiled) and not to forget rat infested, broken door locks.
The biggest blow is the food, the man servers expired packaged food (mtr). No fresh food.
The evening we arrived around 7 - 7:30 pm, we ordered for some food, and when it was served some 1 hr later, it tasted funny and a smell was emanating from the paneer dish.
We suspecting something foul and ran to the kitchen and found the MTR packed which was well after its expiry date (May 2014 packed with 12 months usage). We immediately cancelled the food, and walked to a nearby restaurant where they served us nice fresh food.
We had a big fight, with owner who said, food was not his problem and business, and our travel voucher mentioned hotel stay only and hence any food complain would not be entertained, and he would refuse to hear about the expired food, when we went back to the kitchen the cooks replaced the May 2014 packets with Oct 2014 packets.
And then owner said see this packed expires in October and is good. A d we had a heated argument and it's a long story. No more words to write for this hotel.
