The resort is located in the best place possible.. a few KM from the city but away from all the hustle and bustle and mainly the noise. What surprised me though was the fact that they dont really have any speciality and do very little to highlight Kerala itself. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious, we stayed in the A/C rooms which really helped if you arent the hot weather kinds. They have 2 kinds of rooms Sea view and Beach view, which are basicaly a 2 floored cottage..the 1st floor being the beach view and 2nd the sea view.. (mainly because u cant see the beach because of the surrounding wall :) ).
Room service was nice too and they serve only beer but maintain limited stocks..so if u plan to chill with a beer in the evening remember to order ahead. They have a 24 hr pool and and I believe when posible have local cultural events (usually when the resort is full). The beach and see too are awesome but dont expect to see the blue waters of Goa here.. the problem though is that its a public beach and there are also fishermen who live around the corner so the beach and water gets very dirty.
Best Experience: The staff was kind and eager to help.. unfortunately we went around Ramzan and all local hotels are closed.. so if you are the type to stay in Kappad is the place to be.
If you are the type to drive around and take a look.. just ask the front desk for help and they will point you in the right direction.
The most amzing part of our stay was the midnite beach walks... or take chairs our sit under the stars or light up a small fire.. its amazing, with a coolbreeze blowing and no one else around..its your own private beach...
Worst Experience: It was the food that actually blew us away.. You cannot get the local cusine here.. we had to practically beg for them to get some local food made and that didnt turn out too well.
The sea was very dirty and the resort hasnt taken any trouble to keep it clean.
Relax around the resort on weekend and you wll have a horde of locals staring at you from over the walls...
This property is right on the beach. The beach itself is nothing great with below average waves. The only good part of this stretch of the beach is that its not at all crowded so we tend to get a lot of privacy. The swimming pool is good and they have some kids play area around the swimming pool as well which is good.
Best Experience: The chef prepared good authentic kerala dishes for us. The waiters themselves were not much helpful as many a times they didnt know those dishes or were unable to come up with suggestions as we wanted to have only Kerala styled food. The chef engaged with us on what he could provide and from then on it was a great experience.
Worst Experience: We ordered a authentic kerala crab masala dish and we forgot to ask them how much it would cost. We were shocked to see the bill and the dish costed us Rs. 1750. The waiter didnt bother to even tell us that its a high priced dish. Overall the service is pretty lethargic. They have to be told to serve water after we are seated at the table.
I feel so sorry when I look back at this trip here at Kappad Beach Resort. The food and drinks were fine I would say but there was no option of transport here. I mean if I wished to go to market or sightseeing nearby I had to do it on my own or book a vehicle on my own or walk miles to the highway and wait for a cab or rickshaw to be found. The sightseeing too were not that 'wow' to us as I was expecting it to be. The resort took me back to 90s. The look of the resort belongs to the 90s era. So anybody who is a 90s fan, go for it! But do take your own car or details of a cab provider as there is no OLA or any such facility available in that area. The only best part was the beach right in front of the resort and the pool. Also, this resort is not for those who hates Lizards as there were around 5/6 in my own room and my wife just freaked out. Yes, the service was good as they were available whenever you called for something or needed something. Still, not satisfactory so not recommended.
Terrible. The staff is unhelpful. The rooms are basic and purely furnished. Even the TV was defective. For the 5-star prices they charge, I would hesitate to give this place even a single star.
Best Experience: Absolutely nothing recommends this place. Kappad is the place Vasco da Gama landed in India. If this hotel had been around then and he had checked in, he would have just turned around and taken the next ship back to Portugal
Worst Experience: Everything. One look at the room and we wanted to leave. But the staff was adamant that we would have to pay a full day\'s charge even if we did not take the room. We checked in late at night and left at dawn the next morning
We went for a family holiday in North Kerala and all the itinerary was suggested by our travel advisor. At the last leg of our tour, we stayed at Kappad Beach resort some 20 kms from Calicut city on Calicut - Kannur road. The beach is historically famous for Vasco da Gama.
The resort was excellently designed on European style and amenities were good. The food was fantastic including sea food. The Kappad beach was picturesque and sober, you can enjoy with your family. The hotel staff were cordial and resort was having all the amenities including Ayurvedic spa and swimming pool. Overall, the stay was pleasant and comfortable.
