Me and my wife were from Bangalore and wanted to go to Thirunallar. As this hotel is near to that place, we decided to take a room there. We reached there at 6. 30 pm. Reception was warm and we were allotted a room. Staff were polite. Mattress were okay. TV was okay. After we got into the room, we asked for some coffee. We were told that it would take some time. It never came. Then we wanted to order dinner. We phoned room service but we were told, no cook to prepare food but there was a boy who makes idly, dosa and poori. We were left with no option. There is no other restaurant nearby. So we ordered Poori at around 7: 15 pm.
Then I wanted to take a look at an attached bar. When I enquired, the barman said, only drinks will be served no snacks are available. The place looked unclean. So, I came out and went back to the room. We ordered at 7: 15 and was served at 8: 15. The helper boy prepared the poori and it was not the usual one. It looked odd. We had no option. We ate it to clear our hunger.
Next morning, at 5. 30 am, I went down and asked someone in the reception for hot water. He told me to keep open one tap for 10 minutes and I would get hot water. I did as he told, but only luke warm water. Somehow we took bath. We came down and asked for coffee. But they said that it would take some time. We decided to go to the Temple. It was 7 am that time. We went to the temple and came back at 8 am. We ordered coffee. They said again that it would take some time. Till 9 am we did not get coffee. We came down and asked for coffee. We were told no coffee sir, milk got spoilt. Immediately we checked-out of the hotel. What I mentioned above are facts. No exaggeration.
The hotel was located in the centre of the city. Interior and exterior of the hotel was excellent. The hotel building was a new one. The transportation facility was provided to reach the hotel. The room service was very good. I was welcomed warmly by the staff at the reception. The service given by the staff was excellent and they were prompt in their action. The staff’s response was excellent. The check in and checkout procedure was done on time. The room was ready and I was allotted the room on time. The room had basic amenities like AC, TV and geyser in working condition. The room was spacious and had a cosy ambiance. The bed sheets and pillows were regularly cleaned and changed by the staff. Also room and bathroom were regularly cleaned by the housekeeping staff. Hot and cold water facility was provided in the room. Some activities like gym, swimming pool could be provided by the hotel. The Wi-Fi connection was provided by the hotel. The food taste and the quality were excellent. Only vegetarian restaurant was there in the hotel. Also varieties of food options were provided in the restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers. My stay at the hotel was good. The hotel was value for money. It was a relaxation trip. I had visited with my family.
There was a main problem of communication because the staff did not understand the Hindi and English language. Services were not good. I had gone there with my colleagues for official purpose. Location wise, the hotel was conveniently located and near to the railway station and market. I faced no problem to find this hotel. Surrounding of the hotel was nice. Inner and outer of the hotel was beautiful. Painting, furniture and decoration were nicely maintained. Room was spacious, neat, clean and well-maintained. Bedsheet, blanket and other furnishing were in clean condition. AC, TV, geyser and other necessity items were available there and they all were in working condition. Road view was visible from my room. Hot and cold water facility was available there. I had my food inside the hotel and it was reasonable. Many varieties were available there like veg, non-veg, etc. Check-in and check-out process was on time. Overall, my stay there was fine. Nothing was available in activities. They did not organize any sightseeing trip for us. This is a recommendable hotel for other travellers.
Stayed at this hotel for my visit to Tirunallar, Tranquebar and Velankanni. Stayed with wife and child. Overall, experience was good. Amenities were good too and the hotel was decent. Room and bathroom was decent and clean with LCD TV with fairly good clarity and range of channels.
There was a fiasco in room reservations in my case. While I received a confirmation that room is blocked for me thru email, I was surprised that the front desk person was not aware and did not have my name in his reservations list. He was however apologetic and offered a room which was thankfully available. Hotel has a in-built restaurant which serves good food. But it is more of north Indian type dishes. For south Indian type food, we were advised a restaurant which is just in the next block/building which was good but was always crowded.
Room cleaning doesn't seem to happen automatically unless you explicitly say so. I did but still was missed. Instead of relying just on mails, pls make sure to call to make a booking or blocking and better to pay some amount in advance to ensure you are not in for any surprises when you come for check-in.
If you are someone who hasn\'t seen the big shot hotels, even 2* or 3*\'s and have only stayed in Lodges/smaller hotels thus far, then you wont have much to complain.. This is a fairly good enough hotel for short stays. But.... (there\'s always a but..) If you have indeed seen those nice hotels, then beware of the word \'International\' in the hotel name. As i really felt inclusion of this word to the hotel name needs a lot of more work to be put in by the hotel management. If you are a golfer, that\'s a Bogey.
Best Experience: following gets my thumbs up.. :) a. Location of the Hotel. Its 15 minutes walk from the bus stop. Its bang on the main road, so eazy to catch auto\'s, busses. b. Decent south indian food in the restaurant (although you will be constrainted to just 3 dishes just for lunch - Meals, Curd Rice, Veg Biryani..) c. TV & the channels.. i had pretty much all my favorite channels.. Star Movies, HBO, ESPN, Star Sports, Ten Sports, Neo Cricket... (That really took me by surprise..)
Worst Experience: These would get my thumbs down... :( 1. People at reception could offer a smile and be friendly.. (it costs nothing more...). Not sure if they had a bad day or perhaps i looked shaggy... 2. A few not so good looking areas in the room. like the left open wire board, full dust packed bathroom window, stained corners throughout the room, pretty ordinary decoration aspects, very old stained water jug that kept me away from it 3. Choice of food during lunch can be expanded.. Being someone from Chennai, i couldn\'t have my dosa\'s in the afternoon.
