The resort we visited is in God\'s own land, about 15 kilometres from Kollam - touching a lagoon. Upon entering the resort, our eyes were splashed by the beautiful landscaping - luscious green and tall trees, colourful flowering plants, various shrubs, winding paths leading to the cottages situated at various ground contours. A swimming pool and a spa centre constituted the health club. From the lawn just outside the cottages, one could relish the picturesque view of the densely-populated palm trees on the opposite side of the lagoon. One could see fish swimming in the lagoon!!! The resort itself was so peaceful and calm that we did not feel the need to go out for sight-seeing! If you love nature, this is the place. If nature is not your cup of tea, just go to Kollam resort and your perception will change. You will experience something that you have been missing all your life!
The multicuisine restaurant catered tasty food with many varieties. The F and B manager served us as a real good host, preparing some typical vegetarian items of Kerala.
Early morning yoga and pranayam on the lawn with the lagoon facing us was a life-time experience. Musical cooing of the birds sounded more melodious than any radio program! This was followed by tasty and nourishing breakfast on the lawn, with beautiful early morning sun-rays pleasantly coming on to you.
Something we really enjoyed was relaxing after dinner in the same place, cool breeze pleasantly caressing our limbs and face, occasionally gazing star-lit sky! Incredible reflection of the sky in the lagoon added beauty to the environment. A lonely fisherman, rowing a boat in an attempt to win his daily bread was a sight we had never seen before. One unforgettable companion at this time was the electric kettle that the resort supplies in the cottages - along with tea-bags, coffee sachets etc. During the couple of hours spent there, we used to enjoy at least 3 to 4 cups of hot beverages.
One may visit a nearby town in case some bakery items are fancied! Many mouth-watering fresh pastries and savouries (we loved tapioca products!) are available.
Our visit to Kerala was a 40-year-old dream fulfilment! From Ahmedabad, we flew to Coimbatore, from where we hired a cab to Munar. Enjoying the hill resort for a couple of days, we proceeded to Thekkadi for a couple of days\' stay. In the same cab, we continued till Kottayam from where we caught an A/C train to Kollam. (Hoteliers booked the taxis for us - and the drivers were a true example of a gentleman!). One barrier was - language. Communication was a little difficult sometimes. However the civility and the humbleness of the Keralians made life very easy for us! The resort staff helped us with our railway booking (from Kollam) to Cochi - from where we were to fly back to Gujarat. In short, what we planned was a trip ACROSS Kerala (starting in the east and terminating in the west) so that we did not have to cross the State TWICE!
I visited Aquaserrene hoping that it would recreate the nice experiences I had during my first visit. I give full credit to the location, but slightly disappointed with the other factors. The place is calm as it is located almost in the midst of a serene lake. The trip was part of a get together with my former classmates on August 8. We spent a relaxed day and night there. The scenic beauty around the cottages are marvellous.
Though the resort is nicely located, it is not maintained well by the management. The cottages are losing their charm as many of the tiles fixed on the concrete roofs are seen broken.
Swimming Pool: The swimming pool was not functioning. The water filter mechanism of the pool was lying broken.
Stay: We took three cottages, of which two belonged to the double storied twin cottage building on the easternmost side. The cottages had a living room in the lower floor and bedroom on the upper. The beds were clean. The AC started leaking in one living room and finally we had to switch it off, as no one came for repairs.
Restaurant: The food they served was good. But if you are looking for a cost effective visit here, better choose a package with food (AP or MAP) as ala carte food prices are high.
If the resort is well managed, it still have a chance to get to the top of one of the best resorts in Kerala.
On 24th Feb 2015 my friend and I checked into Club Mahindra floating cottage. Very close to Kollam railway station just 35 minutes drive. This beautiful cottages are well-situated by the chinese fishing net. Every cottage had a sea view. Our stay was for 2 nights. The swimming pool is not very big but there were many other activities at the resort. The staff was very nice. We asked for fishing net and within an hour time the staff arranged the fishing net for us. Morning we got to see the best sunrise from our floating cottage window and balcony and we enjoyed watching the fisherman pass by our cottages fishing for their daily bread.
However the kitchenette were not there in the floating cottage so we opted for buffet meals at Club Mahindra floating restaurant in the resort itself. We ate a lot of masala fry fish. We love how club mahindra has a variety of food in veg and also non veg however one of the days we found the food was cold but because of the good staff at the resort they took care of that small complaint also.
At this foating resort they also had a very lovely spa. The price was little to steep for us and we decided not to go for massage at the spa. The weather was humid and so we were also provided some compact lotion in the room itself. Our overall experience was good and we definitely will visit this resort again namely CLUB MAHINDRA ASHTAMUDI. (floating cottages).
I stayed at Hotel Sudarsan with my family in an A/C Double Room. The room was spacious, clean and with 24 hrs hot and cold running water. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the town facing the National Highway. The service of the staff was excellent. They also provided the best room service. Blankets and bedsheets are changed daily properly. Laundry service also was available. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant. There was ample parking facility for the car.
Best Experience: Biriyani Festival was going on in the restaurant. We enjoyed the Hyderabadi Biriyani. Altogether the tasty food in the restaurant made all of us very happy.
Worst Experience: I have no worst experience at all.
I must say that the room service was very good, efficient and very hygienic. The staff were very polite and attentive to all your needs. Conveniently located with good hospitality. No issues at the time of check-in but then was delayed while check-out. Room was spacious with eye-catching interior and furniture was too good, neat and well-maintained with excellent basic amenities and there was a mountain view from the room. Hotel appearance was traditional look and the interior was well maintained. I had dinner, which was I stayed and the food was very good and they provided a limited menu by other. There was well-maintained swimming pool and gym facility. There was a huge parking space facility. I went here with family for relaxation. It is very much expensive.
