If you are on a honeymoon this is the perfect place for you. The location is mind blowing with vembanad lake facing cottage and surrounded by forest Restaurant is good with price on higher side. There are restaurant nearby which serve okay food. Nothing much to do boat ride. The jetty is just next to resort so don't opt for the hotel boat The swimming pool is the best of this hotel with clean water and free airbags. You can relax for 2 to 3 hrs in the pool with the view of houseboat passing by and giving you the effect of infinity pool Now coming to the room. They all are bamboo cottage and all of same size. No matter what category you chose. I will suggest you to chose canal view room. The beds are not that comfortable and just average. Toiletries are good. Room staff is good.
First the positive points: As a KTDC property ,the location and the resort is quite good..beautiful cottages surrounded by lush greenery and canals flowing through..All the cottages are raised above the ground level and are in the first floor, giving a beautiful view from the rooms.Rooms are all simple yet tastefully done up.Airy and spacious with a balcony attached . The choice of cuisine is limited in the restaurant but okay .nothing to complain or rave about. The tariff is quite attractive so thats a plus point. The drawbacks: Lack of any activities at the resort which can be a drawback for families with kids. Also they dont have any boating or lake activities .So if you are looking at a quiet place to unwind ,this is it.But if you are looking for some activities to spend time at, then you should give this a skip.. There is a lot this place can do since it has immense potential..maybe a karoke night or evening some activities to involve the guests.that would make a lot of difference.
Best Experience: As the place is a nature lovers delight, its wonderful just to wander around the lush greenery and take walks..
Worst Experience: Evenings are quite dull and drab since theres nothing much to do..kumarakom is also a quiet place ,so theres nothing to do to kill time in the evening.thats where the resort should organise and arrnage for some activities for their guests, maybe a cultural dance show ,tambola or karaoke nights on different days.
This place is so Peaceful, I felt like extending my stay. Chirping of Birds, Squirrel, sound of the Roosters, where do you actually get to hear all this in your busy city life, it's heavenly. The view from the pool was just amazing. Even the pool man was very courteous. He actually had spare costumes for people. The reception staff was helping and friendly. Awesome service!
Waterscapes was one of the finest place to relax at. Amongst the kumarokam bird sanctuary and vembanad Kayla at one end makes it a pleasure for nature loving people. Lake view rooms are the best ones to stay. The amenities they provide are also at par with any other 4star properties. Well appointed rooms with toiletries and tea coffee maker. Swimming pool bang in front of the vembanad lake is a treat to the eyes. Courteous staff with prompt service delivery. Restaurant is also nearby to the lake view rooms and serve good food although rates are a bit on higher side. If you are a foody, there are family toddy parlours that serve excellent local cuisines veg and non veg. It's advisable to buy a parcel than eating around. Another best thing is speed boating for couple (max 3 people for an hour) along the venbanad Kayla and patrimonial at a reasonable 1200rs or motor boat for big family at 650rs.
I am a regular international traveler and I always had the opinion that Indian resorts cannot match International standards. I had to change my opinion after visiting Coconut Lagoon!
Best Experience: The people who manage the resort have a feel for the guests. During my stay me and my wife would sometimes go for a walk. During the walk we would come across the chief cook or some other staff , who would pleasantly converse with us and get to know our tastes in food. And hurrah, lunch had some of those special items !
Worst Experience: The water in the Geyser was just warm and not hot enough. I csnt think of anything bad.
