The experience in this hotel was very good and I didn’t face any problem. I went there for a business purpose. The staff were very courteous and friendly. They provided very quick service to me. The manager was also well-behaved and helpful. I liked the location of the hotel because it was situated in a very nice and calm place. A swimming pool was there in the hotel. They should be a little flexible during checkout timing. The exterior and the interior of the hotel were too good and well-maintained. The room allotted to me was very good and all the facilities were provided in the room. All the amenities were working fine and complimentary toiletries were also provided. The room was spacious and hygienically maintained. The room service was good and the housekeeping staff were regularly cleaned the room. I had a very good garden view from my room. They had provided me a complimentary breakfast and it was good. They served both veg and non veg food with reasonable price. The quality and the varieties of the food were good. The hotel arranged many cultural programmes for the entertainment of the tourist and I enjoyed a lot. They had a very good parking space. There was no good place for sightseeing. The ambiance of the hotel was very good. It was value for money and I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers. It was a very good place to visit. The hotel was away from the town so they should advertise more so people will aware of this hotel.
Extremely satisfying experience. They scored a perfect 10 in all counts in that price range. Check in is as smooth as a piece of Mysorepak ( of course from Srikrishna Sweets) with a glass of welcome drinks. Staff were courteous, helpful and they smile as well. Room was spacious, cosy and well equipped to facilitate modern urban living. They have got a locker facility in the room itself with a well written easy to understand instructions. Room as well as the bathroom were spotlessly clean. Towels were soft, white and usable. The TV in room offers lot of channels to cater non vernacular audience. But the best place in the room is the writing table. Strategically placed beside a wall to wall window. View through the window is also spectacular (see the accompanied images). Just prepare a cup of coffee using the electric kettle, sit on the chair, look through the window and get lost in your thoughts. You will understand true meaning of leisure. Â The restaurant has a nice interior and a color scheme which exudes lot of warmth. Staff in the restaurant offered their valuable suggestions regarding the menu. Also they cared to ask if I had liked the food. Â But staying in this hotel, if you want have a lazy evening stroll in the market or visit a coffee shop you have to take an auto. There is nothing nearby. Though the hotel is only 800 meter from Madurai Junction but one cannot walk the distance because there is a flyover to cross. This is just one little disadvantage. But must say positive sides are overwhelmingly huge. Â
We arrived at this hotel in the middle of the night not knowing what to expect. Looking at the town, our expectations were quite low since it is a town of worship. However, we were very impressed with the illuminated walls leading to the main gate. That wasn't even the highlight, upon entering the premises we realized that the hotel building was nowhere within our eyesight. Gripped with curiosity, I realized that there's more to this hotel than meets the eye while we climbed up slope towards the top of a hill. After a good 10-15 mins we finally had the building in front of us and we were quite awestruck. The beautiful architecture took you to a different era. One would feel as if they are back in the Colonial era with English designs.
The hotel offers a wide variety of flora(you'll find the various species labelled) and a lot of peacocks. Night walks in the premises can prove to be quite scary and beautiful at the same time. You'll feel so close to nature and all the sounds produced by crickets and sources can be eerie at times. But there is nothing to worry about as the campus is secure. The hotel provides various recreational options like a swimming pool, gym, tennis court etc. The pool area is at this sort of a landing from where you can see all of Madurai and it is such a pretty sight. That is definitely the feature that made me a complete fan of the hotel. I cannot describe the view but I can definitely furnish the readers with pictures to judge for themselves.
Now coming to the food, it was hands down brilliant. I had the best chicken chettinad I have ever had and the rest of the food we ordered was very pleasing to the palette as well. Their terrace restaurant again offers a wonderful view and serves delicious food. You can look at the beautiful peacocks as they play while you eat.
Couple of cons I'd like to include in order to even out my pro biased review:
1) Room service takes a lot of time. (But that is understandable as the buildings are quite spread out and there is a lack of lift in some wings). 2) the place is infested by mosquitoes but I guess that's a price you have to pay in order to be so close to nature.
All in all, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend people to stay at this Hilltop Marvel.
The Hotel Nook is a business hotel in Madurai located just 5 km from the railway station. I stayed there for two nights and the staff was very helpful and courteous. My check-in was smooth and hassle free and so was the check-out.
The complimentary breakfast offered by the hotel was great. It was a South Indian breakfast for sure but they had at least seven items on offer plus juice, tea and coffee. Their restaurant, situated on the topmost floor was bright, beautiful and spanking clean. I also had light meals in the restaurant and they were served promptly.
The best thing about this hotel was that, they have a standby generator, so the power disruptions did not bother me too much. I caught an auto to visit the Meenakshi temple which was a 15 minute drive from the hotel.
Hotel Nook is best suited for single business travellers. It may not offer much for family groups since it does not have a swimming pool, garden or indoor games. But then it does not pretend to be a resort hotel.
There were no decent restaurants on the road that Hotel Nook was located on. I did not venture far as I was tired after the day's exertions. But their in-house restaurant provided me all that I wanted and I had no cause for complaint.
A visitor had come to meet with me in the hotel. The hotel staff let him talk to me in the lobby and we had lunch later on in the in-house restaurant. The visitor who was a local person also liked Hotel Nook and decided that he could recommend it to foreign visitors too!
When I had to catch a train early next morning, the person on duty helped me hail an auto and also helped me with my luggage. And all this with a big smile in the early morning hours. I could not have asked for more!
Hotel Nook is a no frills hotel, best suited for single travellers or for couples. It is highly recommended for women who are travelling alone and are in Madurai for whatever purpose. I give a big THUMBS UP to Hotel Nook!
