This place has greenery surrounding it,we had booked a cottage which had 2 large rooms with attached bath and living dining area.My husband and 2 kids aged 6 and 9yrs accompanied us.The staff made us feel at home and provided meals as the kids required which was a boon! Also could take my kid\'s maid along to whom they provided bedding and truly made it a holiday for me.
Best Experience: The hotel provides barbeques at night which was awesome, kids really enjoyed as this is out of the ordinary from city life.My husband and I could sit on the lawn outside under the blanket of stars and enjoyed the peace.Morning and evening walks are lovely around the property.Kids were making their own nature trails in the adjoining forested area and learnt to climb the jambul trees.
A very spacious place since we were a really large family going together(3 couples 1 adult and 5 children). The hosts were very helpful and warm. The rooms that we had were overlooking the forests and even though it was warm there was an amazing breeze blowing in from the forest. The 2 boys in charge of our rooms were really hardworking and humble fellows. The linen provided were clean and it was a pleasant stay.
Best Experience: We wanted to go to see some points and the host suggested that if we were game for it we could walk through a forest route and reach the top, and even our parents (senior citizens) and kids aged 10, 8, 5 3, and 1+ all went trekking up to the point. The best was whilst coming down it got a little dark and the kids imaginations were growing by the minute but I can truly say we were one with nature at that moment and I do not think we would have wanted it to be a different experience, that the next day a few of us went back walking the same route again. Even though we were tired by the end of it I think it was the highlight of the full holiday. Even the food that we ordered for on the day we arrived was really very very tasty even though it was spicy but I guess that was the fun in it.
Worst Experience: No not in the hotel but the general attitude of the people of Mahabaleshwar especially where it comes to the toll nakas at every junction is the worst money making racket I have seen in any of my travel experiences. Not only do they charge per car but also per person in the car. I do hope somebody takes this up as an issue coz it spoils the whole holiday and leaves a bad taste and an unnecessary judgement towards all the people living there.
If you want to relax and be in the midst of nature Honeywood is the place for you. Tucked in the woods, near the valley,
away from the maddening crowd of Mahabaleshwar this hotel offers you an excellent peaceful stay. Even though we stayed here in the month of May, a cool breeze from the valley throught the day ensured that we did not feel
the summer heat. I would recommend a stay at Honeywood to all nature lovers looking for a break from the hustle-bustle of
Best Experience: Plus points: - Excellent location - Rooms are not over priced even in the peak season - Clean spacious rooms with 24 hour electricity - Clean toilets with 24 hours hot water - Rooms have a TV for the tv buffs - Play area for the kids with slide and swing - Small sit-out for the garden facing rooms - Decent sized lawn with tables and chairs - Two bed-rooms with attached toilet and a living rooms for larger families - Arrangment of barbeque at night - Freshly prepared food with a homely touch - Helpful and co-operative staff
Worst Experience: We didn't have any bad experience. However a few inconveniences must be taken into account before you plan to book here.
Inconvinences: - Not for people who do not have their own tranport - Food is served in your room. No seperate restaurant/dining area (You can always dine in the lawn/sit-out) - Not for foodies as they have a small menu - Need to place your order 2-3 hours in advance - If you run short of essentials, the nearest market is 5 kms away.
Hotel Gourish is much before the main gateway - checkpoint to the town, infact it is on the way to the old mahabaleshwar town and it is easy to get lost as the road leading up to the hotel is forested, quaint and shady with almost no traffic at all on either side. As there are no signboards, you need to rely on locals to guide you up to the hotel.
The hotel does not boast of any amenities like a pool or games etc, so be sure to cary your own stuff to kick up some fun. The amenities in the room were good..LCD TV, hot water, clean matresses, quick service.
If you are looking to have fun, this certainly is not a place for you. however if you are looking for some peace and relaxation, this is the palce to be. The food quality is good and largely local food. Veg as well as N. veg food is available and generally made on order, so expect some waiting time.
Finding public transport in and around the hotel is dificult so ensure that you have your own car or have a pre-arranged transport.
On a overall basis a good place if you are looking to chill and relax.
Visited with my family in August 2016. 6 kms from main market. Can be say in dense forest. Wind and clouds are always very near to us at the hotel. Whistling wind can be heard throughout night in room. Very fast and prompt service. Check in and check out time is permissible. Rooms are good enough. 2 double beds are in the room. 2 Children can accommodate easily without any extra charge. Food quality is nice. Finger biting taste. Room service is also fast. Mr. Jayesh of room service is so kind and fast. Manager and other staff was also helpful. Small children play station is very nice with various things like swing, slides, see saw, trampoline, merry go round etc. GYM and carrom for adults is available. No other activity is available. Can reach only with private vehicle only. Kates point and old Mahabaleshwar temple are nearer points from hotel.
