Hi All..if you are planning to make a trip to Manali, I can now definitely recommend this hotel - Snow Peak Retreat. We just returned from our Manali vacation with my wife. We spent around 3N-4D at Manali.
First, the hotel location is very much in main Manali unlike many luxury hotels which are on the highway. Its almost near to the famous Hidimba temple which means you do not have to sweat very hard to locate the hotel as the temple is a famous landmark. Ample parking space - I guess at any time there can be 8-10 cars that can be parked. We were on i20.
Second, the location is splendid. You get an absolute clear view of the City below, the valley, the mountains and the snow capped peaks far behind. The hotel is built in a manner where every room has the same beautiful view of the valley. So it does not matter which category of room you are in. Sorry, I missed to add that the back side of the hotel has a beautiful Apple orchard. We missed its beauty as Nov beginning is an off time for apple trees.
Third, the beautiful lawns or the lawn facing balconies (which all rooms have) provide an excellent opportunity for you to bask under the bright morning sun and sip a hot cup of team or juice if you so prefer.
Fourth, the hotel is clean, rooms are spotless and with all facilities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms where we stayed was a Super Deluxe room was not very big but was comfortable enough for a couple for a nice stay.
Fifth, the food - This is one area where I feel they can further improve but that does not mean that the food was bad but could have been made tastier, say 4/5. However, the good part is they accommodate your request of any special meal item, like we requested for mutton and we were provided a superb mutton dish at dinner. They also have a small refrigerator (I am not sure if every room had one) which contained Juices, Mineral Water, Beer, Chocolates - of course a paid offering but at very nominal rates. We anyways did not use this.
Sixth and I believe the most important, the staffs were very courteous. The owners themselves take special interest in making your life comfortable. We met Luder Thakur who in fact got married a week back but was very much present at the hotel to manage the operations. A very nice person to interact with. We went during Diwali and were gifted Haldiram Gulabjamuuns..yummy..We in fact celebrated Diwali out there with the hotel staff by lighting candles and playing with fire crackers.
Seventh and I believe this is really important for people like me is the cost. This I believe is a hotel which gives you the best possible facilities in the most optimum budget. Although we went in off season, the rates were even lower but generally the rates are economical and the services are value for money.
That's all from my side. Infact the reason I chose to write such a long feedback was because of the warm hospitality that we received from them. I owe them this for sure.
All those people who are still contemplating a hotel at Manali can blindly choose this unless you are one of those who will not go for anything below a Five Star. Snow Peak Retreat may not be a five start but in my opinion they are no lesser than a Five star in terms of their warm hospitality. Enjoy your stay here.
Check-in: We were the group of 4 peoples and have booked 2 rooms. In which 1 was Luxury garden view and 1 was basic room. The manager over their upgraded our basic room to the same luxury room. It was good to have both room adjacent to the garden. We liked this generosity of the hotel very much.
Room : The rooms opens to the garden area and the view can mesmerise anyone. I can bet on it. In fact, I would suggest honeymoon couple to book only these garden view room, where you can sit at night, or groups can party around. The washroom was clean and fitted with all modern accessories.
Breakfast: Breakfast has limited 3-4 options like masala omelette, juices, stuffed parathas, tea, coffee, toast butter. The ambiance and location of dining room was very prominent and we liked it very much but our suggestion if that hotel should enhance the limited menu to the buffet with more options. (One thing we noticed there the guy who was serving there used to smile a lot and if we order one parantha he gave us two, kinda over hospitality, but we enjoyed that).
Location with Sightseeing: Location is good as it hardly matters, because you need to hire a cab whether it's Rohtang Pass, Kullu for rafting, all are a day long trip. So plan accordingly and try to leave hotel in the early morning.
Security: We didn't find anything odd related to security but as the property is new, hotel is still under process of installing CCTV, so it would be good if hotel expedite this process.
Suggestions to other travellers: When we reached hotel, we found some clothes missing from the bag of one of our co-traveller. As the bag was not locked and we have travelled through volvo, so it might be possible that it happened there, so always locked your bag with heavy locks and you can take a pic in your phone just before you are putting your luggage in the volvo.
At the end: We liked the hotel very much and hope that hotel will take our suggestions seriously.
The surrounding of resorts is beautiful. The location was too good. The entrance of resort is really nice so that people would like to come in resorts. The outside garden is nice place to spend your day with too many adventures games. We had lots of fun there and had wonderful experience and have lots of memories with this resorts.
We stayed at Manali STERLING Holiday . Fantastic location with great views. The service was absolutely fantastic. Very friendly people and were always ready to help. The food was great, especially dinner with a wide variety of choices. Hot tea and milk were availlable at all times which was very helpful especially with the cold weather outside. Highly recommended.
Best Experience: the room
Worst Experience: NO
Scenic Beauty all around !you stay at a great place
I'll start with a small overview of my journey.I went to Manali on a 6 days trip in the month of June in 2013 along with my two friends. We were on individual bike and started our journey form Delhi via -Ambala-Chandigarh-Bilaspur-Mandi-Kullu and finally reached to Manali. Being on bikes we enjoyed the best of nature, deep valley, gorgeous Beas river and thrills of curvy roads. This journey was long and we were very tired but still full of adventures. Now the moment we reached in Manali biggest concern was to get a good hotel with fantastic rooms, great food and nice service. However once we were inside the Manali town there were lot of hired people approaching us for their hotels. But we decided to avoid them and kept our priority high that our stay should be in middle of Manali town so that we could enjoy walking around the town in during the peak hours when maximum tourists are out on the streets. When we reached in the middle Manali an another Hotel owner gave us the reference of Shandela Hotel. That's how we found this Hotel. I would like to remind all of you that It was month of June and all good Hotels in Manali at this point of time remains tight packed.
Fortunately one room was available in this hotel. We checked into the hotel and took this double bedroom on the top floor. Hotel is very good from inside having neat and clean environment, once you are in you'll feel that you are at right place. Okay now it was time to get into the room and once we were inside the room, we were like Oh My God!!!! after seeing the room. These rooms on top floor were like huts and were beautifully decorated with wooden furnishings. Room has a window opening towards dense Deodar trees' portrait with majestic view. So we were more then happy with our room. Room had all basic amenities in great condition. Please remember that the hotel we stayed in was very good hotel to stay but i would not use word 'Luxurious' for it.
Now the best part about this hotel was the staff. The service they provided us was excellent these people were very humble and sweet. They delivered everything on time we ordered. Management of the hotel was very helpful and were treating us like a part of family. After a long journey from Delhi to Manali we were looking for delicious food. Fortunately we got it right there. We enjoyed it. After having our drinks and food we had a good sleep. One small thing that I felt as a negative point was it's location. However from main road you'll feel like it's right there but you would have to go through some small roads(streets), don't worry your vehicle can easily reach here. So this concern is manageable seeing the advantages.
Next morning we woke up early and visiting Rohtang Pass was on our to do list for that day. By the way it was a breathtaking morning view from our room's window. We started out journey at around 6 A.M to Rohtang Pass. That's when the real jinx started. Unfortunately it was TUESDAY, please be aware of it that road to Rohtang and Leh-Ladakh is managed by Indian Army and this is the day when they do maintenance work on the road. So that means tourist visiting to Rohtang can't go ahead after some 10 KM from Manali. Officials would not allow you until either you are a local person or you are going to Leh-Ladakh. So this was a big disappointment for us. If you are in Manali Rohtang pass is a must visit. So please plan accordingly and avoid Tuesday. One full day is needed for Rohtaang pass journey and two days are sufficient for exploring Manali and nearby. In Manali you can visit solang valley, here you can enjoy paragliding and other games. In the evening you can enjoy the crowded market, the environment is excellent in here during this time. Options of river rafting also available. You can enjoy hot air balloon as well in Manali. We find that everything that was in the market was very expensive so we avoided eating and purchasing outside. During winter it would be snow all around so please go with extreme preparations. In summers also temperature is quite low there so keep woolen cloths in you luggage.
I would recommend this hotel to each and every one who is looking for a great budget hotel which provides great rooms with excellent service and location close to main market in Manali and of course with scenic beauty all around. Please do not be dependent on hotel for your toothpaste, cream and oil, :-) I know nobody will. My advise is book in advance and ask for the rooms on top floor. You'll spend memorable time of your life in Manali within you budget at this hotel.
Manali is a great place to visit, the memories of this place will be sweetest in your life if you visit here. If you want to enjoy nature at it's best, heavenly the Himalayas, beautiful and calm but raging Rivers, dense Deodar forests, wide valleys, majestically shining snow covered peaks and thrilling roads then this part of Himachal should be on your must visit list. You can term Manali as a destination of your trip or just a starting of a long journey leading to Ladhak. At the end I would like to share a quote about Manali-Leh-Ladhak road courtesy BRO(Border Road Organization), hope it would inspire you like it does me to go to Manali and ahead: "THIS IS A TOUGH ROAD WHICH LEADS TO THE HEIGHTS OF GREATNESS"
I hope my review would be helpful for you.All the best for your journey.
